im planning on tinting my taillights and third brake light in a few weeks but does anyone know how tinting the headlights and drl's will affect the visibility? i want the look but i dont want to sacrifice any light.

It depends on the darkness you go for. Of course common sense will take effect here. I used this spray stuff to do mine. If you try and tint them with film, I have heard it fades. And is a pain to do..I wouldnt know, I used the other stuff. I forget th ename of it, but I can tell you no doubt someone will chime in and let you know who makes it...many use it.

Yeah that^^^^^^

Thin coats are your key element. If you use them you can always add more. But if you go crazy with heavy coats, you'll find yourself with lights you can't use and buying a whole new set.

I recommend picking up another stock set of DLR to practice on. If you nail it on your first shot, well set the other one. But if you mess up, you will still have a set you can use.

yeah.. I agree to an extent...but if he mess's it up all he has to do is remove the tint with some acetone...it will look just like he had never did anything at all...

True, but acetone can be hard on the plastice though, cause it to fog or haze.

yeah...I did it but was careful..didnt let it stay on long. And if thast the case, use your girls finger nail polish remover! LOL Just dont let her find out!

LOL, vaild point though. I think my one buddy left it on there to long. Dunno, i was not there when he did it. But yeah that can be cheap insurance if you need it.

Night shade thats it! Ok...I all i do is pour it on for just a second...then wipe it off, doesnt take any time at all. Then it will leave a haze so you get a clean rag, then with just a little acetone on the tip of the rag wipe it down again..this time it will clear up a bit better. Then wipe it down good with the rest of the rag..no acetone. She will look lik eyou never touched it..well with mine it did...I had to do my headlights three times before I got it right...damn cold weather man mess's up a paint job bad!

It just all depends on the number of coats you would use to achieve your desired result. I tinted LSSPORTo4's headlights last year. He had the chrome Xtreme lights and wanted them dulled down a bit to match his black rims better. In his case, all it took was 2 coats to achieve the look he wanted, so it did not hinder any light shining through at all. Said he couldn't tell the difference...

If you do a search of his name, he posted a thread up about how much light showed still, w/ pics and all.

Damn it all the red trucks...lol looks good!

Why all the mis alignment on the fender cover for? Hangs down like 1/4 past th efender edge? Just wondering if all of them do that...

oh..ok. Well I will cut mine if I ever get some then..I dont like that at all.. Helps like hell to make the trucl look lower though!

yeah i was planning on using the vht night shades to do it. i want it a little darker than LSSPORT's though. ive heard that light coats are the key to this stuff which wont be a problem considering i paint vehicles everyday anyway and im no stranger to a rattle can either!

Im actually in the process in doing mine just waiting for a nice day. I did my 3rd break light I bought a bulk roll of LaminX heres the site Lamin-x Protective Films - Protect with Style and its 5 year warrenty they sell the spray protection ive used this stuff in the past and its the best in the market:thumbup: its not thin and its a rubber vinyl and not bad to remove doesn't leave no goo or scratches. Im also doing a friends eclipse as well we went halfs on a bulk roll they also sell the exact fit precut but best bet is bulk.

p.s.
don't mind the dirty truck weather here sux! can't wait to do the rest oh and you dont have to worry about visibility they sell different shades i use the charcoal for the front even though they sell it for the tail lights b.c its darker but u can still see through pretty good.

Yeah the Lamin X is good stuff. I've had the yellow/amber film on my foglights since the truck was new in 04. Since holding up. Its also very easy to remove with some heat (hairdrier); then clean up with some goo gone! Done Son!

one of my neighbors has a yellow single cab and he tinted them DARK AS CRAP. he has H I D's and you couldnt really tell. there not much brighter then stock now but his lights are pitch black. it looks sick. i wanna do it but i dont wanna put in different bulbs and ballast. I say get brighter lights then go for it

I have light smoked clear-bra film on mine. I bought a bulk roll and my buddy and I installed it. The front lights are simple. The tail lights are a bitch.

The nice thing about the film is it prevents rock chips. Paint or Niteshades will chip easily.

Very nice man!! I guess Laminx has change their categories cuz now they call their model : clear - tint6% - gunsmoke12% ( darker ) and yellow/blue

Was your 95% the darker option back then?

It appears that they have changed their product line since mine, but it looks like the tint 6% is similar to what I have!
