A while ago i changed my oil and there was red all over the bottom of my truck

finally got around to checking my tranny fluid and i think it was low... it was not in the etching and it was down around where it says cold.

where do i add tranny fluid at?

Not stupid. If the tranny oil pan gasket is leaking, air flow under the truck while it is moving could blow the fluid onto the transfer case and then it runs down and forms drops.

Did you check it cold? Engine running? If so, then its normal for the level to be there. Its best to go for a drive and get the atf to normal operating temps like 200 degrees. Usually takes about 15 mins of driving around. Then check the level, should be in the cross hatching area, doesn't have to be all the way to the tip of the top but in the area.

you always have to warm the tranny up first, it gets the fluids going, a cold tranny is a dry tranny. you sicko:ugh:

sorry been drinking but still its funny.

Wow...your tranny warms up in 15mins? Shit my 20 minute commute barely gets mine above 120F. To get fully warmed up mine takes about 30minutes on the highway.

Well there's ways to warm that shit up like in no time but i didn't wanna give out advise that can potentially damage your trans but what i do is i drive around and at stops i do a stall test and hold the gas and brake hard for 20 secs at a time, drive to cool off and redo it like 5 times. This gets the trans super hot!

Yeah thatll work too but i notice my hand gets hella tired with that thing and it gets hard to pump after a while. You end up pushing the entire bottle up against the vehicle and holding the bottle to reduce hand fatigue.

This is what i use at work.

You stick the hose into the new fluid bottle and you pull back on the piston carefully and not too hard so that you don't damage the seal. Then stick the hose into the tranny and gently push the piston in again trying not to damage the inner seal by doing it too hard.

Repeat the process until fluid starts spilling out the trans, then wait until the fluid stops running out and stick the fill plug back in.

Then when done hang the tool somewhere and let the hose drain into the atf bottle overnight.
