Turn signal/brake pedal issues...

I apologize about this thread. I've searched and read until my head hurts. I've found nothing that seems to be relevant to my Canyon's current demon possession.

Here's the skinny:

When pressing my brake pedal, my left signal indicator will slightly illuminate and will chirp the first tone for the "dinger". If I release the pedal, the light goes dark and I get the second chirp. If I have my left signal actuated, it will pulse as it should. If I depress my brake pedal, it will cause a rapid cycle of the signal. It hasn't done it on the right signal, yet. However, sometimes my right signal will stop chirping and only flash when the pedal is pressed.

This is an intermittent issue. I have unplugged the battery and let the truck sit for a few hours before reconnecting the battery. I've replaced both brake pedal switches and am leaning towards a failed BCM, or a shorted/loose ground somewhere.

I know this issue has had the snot beat out of it on this board, but every attempt I've tried has proven futile. I appreciate any insight, especially from the GM technicians on board.

This only happens when I press the brake pedal.. and it only happens intermittently. Also, it will cycle between "normal" and "wtf", even during the same press of the pedal. It's like there is a wire dancing around making contact and then losing contact. It's driving me up a wall, guys. I'm about to kill it with fire.

Thanks.

Mine does the same thing. Kinda confused about it as well but the lights all still work so I just don't worry about it lol

Sometimes, its a rear turn signal thats not making good contact it will trip the turn signal its supposed to let you know that the signal or brake light are out, i have LED's in my truck and it does that when there isnt the right amount of resistance on the circuit

Same problem started a couple weeks ago. I was able to temporarily fix the issue by slightly pulling the bulb out. If my turn signal bulb was in all the way it would act as if the bulb was out, but pull it out slightly and works again. Isn't this a recall?

If you have a trailer wiring harness, try disconnecting that to see if that is the culprit. If you don't have a trailer harness, then check your bulbs to make sure none are blown and check the bulb contacts and sockets.

Too many problems with my GMC. This turn signal nonsense, coupled with a shut down issue that the dealer couldn't solve, even though it repeatedly failed under their care, was enough for me. I don't have the time/patience to deal with a truck that won't run as it should. I especially don't have the money/inclination to watch my checkbook catch fire while the dealer attempts to fix it by tossing parts at it for $75/hour.

My headache went away last Sunday and my red Chevy has been replaced with a white Nissan.

My first suggestion would be to verify that the ground for the left tail light is good.

On my truck, I had the same issue but the culprit was a melted socket that holds the brake lightbulb. A poor connection here will cause the socket to get hot and melt while sittting at a red light with your foot on the brake.

I would just about bet money that you (had) one or both of the above problems. (I just now read that you got rid of your truck).
