Has anyone mounted an external spin-on filter for an automatic transmission?
Anyone have a suggestion for a good location?

I'm thinking of a Moroso filter mount like:

I'd say inbetween one of the lines feeding the trans cooler, but I don't think you will accomplish much to justify the time energy and money of installing one.

The goal is to add the external filter combined with a trans pan with a drain-plug.
Periodically drain the fluid (all that will come out that is) and change the filter...
Prolong the transmission life.

You are supposed to drop the trans pan, change the filter, clean the magnet & refill every 50k miles anyways. When I had it done at 199k they replaced a couple things in the transmission and it tightened right back up.

I've had the transmission drained and flushed with BG synthetic fluid, and the filter changed 3 times. My truck has 104k miles. It runs and shifts like new.

I think there is a how to. It's in the performance section under 460le info. That's the same way I have mine mounted. And it works very well.

There is a how to. It's pretty easy to do, time consuming mostly. If you have a free afternoon, and don't mind taking a bath in old ATF.

I changed my filter and fluid in the pan just recently, and my old fluid looked literally, like coffee. It was terrible, plus I had a warm feeling inside after I changed it. I felt that my truck was happy, and that made me happy.
