I've had several mufflers on this truck all with single side exit. magnaflow too loud and drone, mbrp not as loud sounded real good but too much drone. Dynomax super turbo perfect sound not to loud but you can tell theres an exhaust upgrade and NO drone. And it sounds nothing like a ricey honda.

Whatever you do don't dump it before the axle.... hella drone.

I have a custom header with magnaflow highflow cat and a flowmaster 40 series duals and i love it.

if you keep the stock exhaust the MBRP will not have near as much drone as the flowmasters in the stock location. You can actually have a conversation with someone while driving.
X2... that is what my setup is. Decent sound, hardly any drone.

Any vids of the dynomax?

Here's a Dynomax Superturbo on my '11 2.9L, stock piping. Sounds a little deeper then stock, but hardly any difference.

Here's with a Flowmaster 40, same stock pipe. Not really that loud huh?

Casual conversation or light music EASILY covers what little amount of drone there is with the 40....

MBRP or Flowmaster are both great choices. Have to decide on whatever sounds the best to you

I dont see any links...

I embedded the videos, here are the links.

Dynomax

Flow 40

This is my first vehicle with anything other then an 8cyl. So, I was almost afraid and cautious when I decided to put exhaust on it. I went with the Dynomax because I was really worried I'd sound like a little tuner car. I learned that it somewhat translates over.

A turbo design muffler is a great choice and sounds really good, just too quiet for me. I could only notice the difference while at idle and under acceleration, and the difference was minimal. With the Flow 40, it really levels out at cruising speed, and has a nice little idle to it, but it really isn't very loud. I had an '06 2500HD with the 6.0L straight piped and dumped before the rear axle. That was LOUD and droned bad.

Edit: I paasted the links in the post and it looks like it embedded automatically, not sure if you"ll be able to see it. If you can't, search on YouTube using my username, "le149". Both videos are the first 2 in the search results.

Links worked! :th_woot:

But youre right, that dynomax is quiet!...a little too quiet. I'm 19 years old, so I like a little rumble.

I had a cherry bomb glass pack on my old 4L straight 6 jeep. Thing was obnoxious on the highway. Not to mention the Jeep wasn't soundproofed at all.

I guess it's back between MBRP vs Flowmaster. I really wish i could hear these exhausts in person.

I have flow 40 on my 3.7l with stock dump location and I love it! (Thanks ED!) It has been mistaken for a v8 at idle and cruising by 5 of my friends, great tone, very mild drone. I have noticed something though, it seems to be louder when its cold outside...I'm not sure if it is just me :shrugs:. Though I love it, I honestly would like it a bit louder (I like loud exhausts) so I might remove the second cat soon.

So I see alot of talk about Dynomax and Flowmaster. Is there a reason not to many are running Magnaflows?
There are a couple of guys running the Magnaflow. From what i hear the are pretty much the same type and sound as the MBRP.

Just installed my Flowmaster 50 delta flow muffler and couldnt be happier. Running on stock pipes, just enough to to hear it, but i wouldnt mind it louder. That will change eventully.

as long as you dont dump your muffler under the bed you shouldnt have that much drone with anything. my mbrp turn down with a gutted manifold and burnt up main cat isnt even that bad most of the time. going up a hill at a steady speed it gets bad though
