So I ordered a new HU and the rear speakers, I already bought the front components(Polk Audio 6.5s at CC.

Heres what I got:

It should arrive Friday and hope to install this coming weekend. Free install kit and Ipod adapter too.

Cheap upgrade for me, I'm not that big into audio, but I have some other neat tricks to go with it. Not to bad, out the door for $240. The overall total is under $400 for everything, so I'm happy!

UPS delivered my HU this morning. Kenwood DDX812

I wish I had the nuts to install my system and save $600 labor.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Edit: Was closer to 600, still sucks.

Holy fuck dude. Bring it up to my place and I'll put it in for much cheaper.

I had those same ones in my hands at CC like a month ago but didn;t know if they would fit with the tweeeters in the cones.

ill do it for beer.

those speakers in i5s post are what are in boyd and pauls truck(i think). they sound good with the right ammount of power behind them.
Yeah maybe by the end of the summer I will throw some extra power at them, but that will require some help. I can do the basics, install speakers and a basic HU, but amps and all that fancy stuff is beyond me.

Not meaning to jack thread, just venting a little...

Just noticed their "updated" install costs after I complained originally: (labor only)
HU:$150 (this is unit with nav which I did not get so should be less)
Separates: $120
Speakers coax: $59
Amp: $150
Dyna front: $40
Dyna back: $20

$539 (my memory wasn't so good, ha)

Things they dropped after I complained:
Bluetooth mic: $60 (what a joke, run the wire to the steering wheel)
Ipod jack: $39 (what? nice try Wilber)

Seriously - lets have a meet and we'll put it in for you. You buy the beer.

Yeah I can give you a call, if your going to be around next weekend! Shit, I remembered, sunday is off for sure....my wedding anniversay.

LOL. Nice. Darek on the lowball action.

Seriously, installing car audio stuff isn't rocket surgery, it's pretty fun, IMO. The only bad part is fishing wires through firewall grommets. That 4 gauge wire did NOT like coming into the cab.

I bought a new Tsunami wiring kit, Alpine CDA-9887 HU, Elemental Designs components, used old school PG ZX450 amp, and 2 Infinity 10.1 Perfect subs... plans this summer are for a full install. I'll have to do a write up. This will be the biggest single install I've ever done. :)

 True true. I ran 4 multi-strand strobe cables through that grommet. Pain in the ass.

Which one did you go through? I used the one just to the lower-right of the brake booster if memory serves. It felt like I was reaching up into the FENDERWELL from under the dash to pull that wire through.

That same one. I probably have about 1-1/2" to 2" worth of cables going through there.
