Hey,
I'll just start by saying thanks to the members of this forum -- I recently purchased a white crew cab '05 Z71 at about 6k under the NADA estimate. I had originally planned on maybe even flipping the truck vs. making it my daily driver, but the gas mileage comparables to other trucks of this capacity and the fact I now have a very useful bed instead of a trunk are the reasons why I think I'll try to run this thing to 200k.
I bought the truck with a ton of problems. Brakes, rotors, needs new tires, ALL (all) of the fluids are "dark" (not murky, but getting there), plugs, drive belt is so-so, tensioner has a bad wobble, and the air filter is easily the worst I have ever seen -- a fram filter that looked like it came out of a household vacuum (dust, dirt, HAIR/fibers, rocks, you name it).
-- thanks to this website, I've been able to take care of everything (minus the tires) by myself, saving about a two grand in the process compared to shop estimates (even one from where I work!).
I'm particularly glad that I was able to fix the low idle/CEL so easily. The guy who gave me the rundown on the truck said his technician told him it was the MAF sensor. Cleaned the tb as instructed on the forum, and the truck feels like it's back to it's original value.
anywho, thanks again, I'm about to take care of the heatshield issue (i thought it was my muffler, this site is wonderful, my problem is exactly like what is explained in the how-to) and install a fresh 7" dvd headunit. I'll have pictures up soon, and I'll stop lurking around here and do more mingling.
