anybody running a no-cat set up?

backpressure is a myth... its all about exhaust gas velocity

i just got my cut out and its ridiculously loud! so i can burn valves by doing so?

naw its not too annoyingly loud. and i dont have my exhaust pipe exiting all the way out the back, it ends just about half way at my bed. as for inside the cab... i have a crew cab so it's not too loud but you can still feel/hear it pretty well. next time i throw it on the lift i will take a pic and post it

ive got the manifold cat delete and a mangnaflow dual on mine. was considering a hi-flow cat inplace of the muffler but i think it might end up being wayy too loud. its pretty loud as is...

Shit I got a magnaflow w/ stock pipes, and its dumped b4 the axle. Its not loud at all! I mean its noticably louder than stock but its not loud at all. Gutting the mani-cat will make it a lot louder?

yeh you must have a diff muffler. ive got the dual out kit they sell for the i5. mine had a pretty good sound to it b4 the manifold mod but gutting it made a huge diff. its a good difference if you like a deep gurgle after letting off of WOT. lol. its prob your muffler but i would recommend doing the manifold cat delete it will def improve the sound/performance

running no cats will not in anyway harm your motor. its for smog purposes only. your truck will run way better without them once you get it properly tuned. oh and my truck has no cats with long tube headers and its stupid loud...but then again i got a 6.0L

aight bro sorry it took soooooo long, work has been a bitch.... :dawg:

the first part is with my windows up. second part is with my front 2 windows down. and the last part is from under the truck...

hope this helps

*edit... i am running with... K&N Intake and super 40 flowmaster

What muffler are you running??

Sounds good on video!

I'm running a magnaflow muffler and its very quiet w/ minimal cab drone...Im a little disappointed by it. Hopefully deleting the cats will lively it up a bit.

...and dont worry about it. Thanks for the video, its helped a lot.

Same here, mine is dumped b4 the axle, behind the cab. When you say "raspy" do you mean honda civic "raspy" or just loud aggressive non honda civic "raspy"? I know I have the video now, but still I have to ask.

I would say "ricey" but that caused a huge off topic discussion on what "ricey" really means last time I said that!

Anyways, does it get high pitched anywhere in the rpm range or is it consistent?

EDIT:...maybe my magna wont deliever the tone I want...

hell if i gut my cat NY state will rip my head off and hand it to me........:mav:

I have only been haulted in doing this mod because some one said after the first cat delete it sounds like it has a major exhaust leak.... does the empty can have that exhaust leak sound or does this dood have an exhaust leak?

#53 ·
gutting your cat does not make it sound like you have an exhaust leak....

#55 ·
Ah yes young Jedi, you have learned well....throaty sounds and minimal HP gains are not what to strive for. Obey emissions laws and speed limits are what young Jedi warriors should adhere to :slap:

GUT THOSE CATS!! after hearing that clip I'm definately doing mine now!

Zach - when are we doing this????
