Bottoming out on lowered xtreme

That looks to be about a 1/2 drop.

The stock springs in these trucks sucked when they were new. My truck bobbed up/down on the highway since the day I bought it. Mine is dropped 2.25/3 and it practically sits the frame on the axle. i installed helper bags to raise it an inch because I have 600+ lbs of gear in the bed at all times. When i'm at meets or car shows, I drop the helper bags to get it to sit lower when I want it. I also upgraded the shocks to QA1 adustables on all four corners and that was the greatest improvement of all my suspension upgrades. It wasn't cheap building up my suspension but it was well worth it.

If you want to keep the dropped look, helper bags or air shocks is the only way to go. Then you can haul your bike all day long.

The problem you will find is the stock leaf springs are way too soft even when new. Raising the rear an inch will not eliminate the bottoming out issue. The helper bags will give you the greatest improvement.

Rshadd, Thank you! That helped me out a lot. So your lowers are cut and uppers are left the way they were? Or what do you have going on there?

Raising an inch would give an extra inch of travel before it smacks though wouldn't it? I understand what you are saying though..
Here's a pic of the gear in my bed which is 600+ lbs

The drawer alone is 322 lbs empty.

That was enough to make the rear bottom out at stock ZQ8 height when the truck was new. Raising your truck an extra inch won't really help much when hauling your bike.

Yours look fine. I have seen some shaped like the golden arches. Mine look "S" shaped lol

ZQ8 leafs are fairly flat when new compared to Z85 leafs.

With 2" blocks your frame is about an inch from the axle. Remove the tall bumps stops and see if it helps.

You have to remember, A ZQ8 is already lowered 1" in the suspension. then add 2" blocks and it's now 3" drop. Only reason I get away with it is because of the helper bags.

I have a z85 canyon with a 3" block in the rear and I dont ever bottom out. Dont know what your problem is but your best bet would be to put the helper bags like Canyonbrian and Dbnissan did.:):)
The biggest difference with yours is it's a regular cab. Extended and crew cab trucks weigh more.

Wtf.

:gd:

I was under the impression you had a 1in block.

Get new shocks. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.

Spend money and get good shocks and your problem will go away ftmp.

Get helper bags and never worry about it again.
Shocks will help minimize suspension undulations but it won't solve the bottoming out.

I ran a 3in block and dealt with it fine on a crewcab.

Agreed they are heavier but it is what it is.
I believe your crew cab also had stronger leafs since it was a V8 model.

In my truck with 2" blocks and zero air in the helper bags, I'm practically riding on the frame. I bottom out just pulling out of my driveway with no air in the bags. If the OP still has the tall yellow bump stops mounted, that could be the reason for the rough ride when empty.

hes bottoming out from the extreme travel his shocks arent controling.

nope. axle is different, shock orentation is different, leafs are not.
That's just it, he does not have extreme travel. He has a minimized travel, just like I do. Maybe "bottoming-out" is not the correct phrase to use here. I have adjustable QA1 shocks in the rear and smack the axle to the frame if I don't raise the rear by airing up the helper bags. His situation is similar to mine especially after he loads his quad in the bed. That closes the gap even more because the weight will lower the rear of the truck abd put the frame closer to the axle. Shocks will not eliminate the axle from smacking the frame.

As far as the leafs, since they are the same, then I don't know how you got away with not smacking the axle to the frame 3" blocks. Mine smack together with 2" blocks. Either you never put a heavy enough load in the bed, have smoother roads or just have a higher tolerance to that jarring feeling

So with the Air Ride kit, it is suppoded to hook over the bottom part of the housing, but with blocks it cannot do that. Are you just adding another clamp in the front of the Air Lift (front part of bracket)?
I cut the hook part off the bottom mount and butted the plate up against the drop block
