Wtf.

:gd:

I was under the impression you had a 1in block.

Get new shocks. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.

Spend money and get good shocks and your problem will go away ftmp.

Get helper bags and never worry about it again.
Shocks will help minimize suspension undulations but it won't solve the bottoming out.

I ran a 3in block and dealt with it fine on a crewcab.

Agreed they are heavier but it is what it is.
I believe your crew cab also had stronger leafs since it was a V8 model.

In my truck with 2" blocks and zero air in the helper bags, I'm practically riding on the frame. I bottom out just pulling out of my driveway with no air in the bags. If the OP still has the tall yellow bump stops mounted, that could be the reason for the rough ride when empty.

hes bottoming out from the extreme travel his shocks arent controling.

nope. axle is different, shock orentation is different, leafs are not.

That's just it, he does not have extreme travel. He has a minimized travel, just like I do. Maybe "bottoming-out" is not the correct phrase to use here. I have adjustable QA1 shocks in the rear and smack the axle to the frame if I don't raise the rear by airing up the helper bags. His situation is similar to mine especially after he loads his quad in the bed. That closes the gap even more because the weight will lower the rear of the truck abd put the frame closer to the axle. Shocks will not eliminate the axle from smacking the frame.

As far as the leafs, since they are the same, then I don't know how you got away with not smacking the axle to the frame 3" blocks. Mine smack together with 2" blocks. Either you never put a heavy enough load in the bed, have smoother roads or just have a higher tolerance to that jarring feeling

i didnt say i didnt smack, i said it was fine.

imo, fine = tollerable

srslytho op, you lined it out for me with your first sentence and i didnt read it right.

excuse my lack of comprehension.

imo, new shocks will help your problem and helper bags/notch will eliminate it.

please dont use air shocks cause they ride like shit. theyre cheap for a reason.

I appreciate all your guys' feedback on this, and trying to help me through it. WAY better than some other forums ;).

Sounds like helper bags are the way I need to go. I'm guessing leafs are ruled out now? We know my shocks could use an upgrade, but wouldn't completely fix the smacking? I agree, "bottoming out" wasn't the correct term for me to use probably, as that generally implies bottoming suspension.

Sounds like some of you guys with 2" and 3" blocks are using helper bags and have no issues. Helper bags are around $250 (I'm guessing, from what I've seen), and I know it is the ideal way to go but just not sure if I can pull that right now. I know its a relatively cheap cure-all for my symptoms but times err tough! haha.
Would going up 1" (so 2" drop total from a z85 I guess?) "help" at all? It just wouldn't hit as bad/often since I'm gaining an extra inch of travel before smacking right? Plz excuse my ignorance for runnin' you guys in circles here ;)

Yes going up 1 inch will help a little but not that much, I personally would go with air shocks till you can save up for the helpers. I've had air shocks for a couple of years and never had a problem with them and I was my bed a lot.

So with the Air Ride kit, it is suppoded to hook over the bottom part of the housing, but with blocks it cannot do that. Are you just adding another clamp in the front of the Air Lift (front part of bracket)?
I cut the hook part off the bottom mount and butted the plate up against the drop block

Monroe Air shocks if your hauling a quad
