I am planning on removing the 2.8L engine in my 2006 Canyon to do a timing chain replacement. Is it easier to pull the trans along with the engine rather than trying to separate the engine and trans and just pull engine?

I have the P0017 DTC. I have checked the exh cam solenoid and it is clean and operating. I figured the next step was the chain or cam actuator. My biggest concern with working with hte engine in the truck is the oil pan from below. If I had a lift I would not worry.
I will check all the grounds. The truck has 132K miles. That is why I figured out that I may as well tear into the timing chain and gears. I don't need to drive the truck so I have time to do the work through the winter.
Thanks. What is the pre-cat delete? I tried a search but got a lot to look through.
