During the fall foliage ride in NH, Old guy was showing us his 5.3L in his '09 Colorado. Noticed that he had a factory black hood insulator under the hood and it looks like we all have the mounts for it. Dressed it up nice under the hood, anyone know the part number for this? I've searched all over but can't find it anywhere.

if you werent far away id give you mine. since i put the cowl hood i left the insulator off so it can extract heat and DAMN does it work great!
Holy shit, I'd appreciate that...never thought about it but does it affect performance at all by keeping heat in? Do you think it could be shipped or is it too stiff? I'd gladly pay you sumthin'.

Plus the push in plugs to hold it in place Rich. I'm sure they have a GM part number too. If your not a numbers matching guy, they can be bought at most auto parts stores, but you'll need the wide headed plugs. :yup:
I wouldn't mind one of these either...though I'm not sure if there's too much point to it aside from quieting the engine noise and somewhat protecting your paint from heat....?
I don't know if they'll fit but they've got a couple different sizes of those at my local Advance Auto.
And really the only reason I'm lookin' for it is cuz it really dressed up under the hood. Looked alot more finished than just the open steel.

why would you want to insulate your engine compartment?
keeping it warm makes it burn cleaner however lower air temps in the engine compartment means lower intake temps

I went to my local Chevy dealer (Iowa) and he matched the GMC Direct pricing when I asked if they did that sort of thing.
And no freight charge.
