It's usually a pretty good idea to run injector cleaner/fuel system treatment once in a while. Not to say you must run it on every tank though. I used to run it if I took a road trip since it was a continuous effort of 'cleaning' as well as helping remove any carbon deposits from the cylinders during the extended driving while at normal operating temperature

 

You really don't need it. That e10 crap kind of helps clean the system cause it is basically alcohol

 

The only thing I ever use is seafoam a couple times in a year.....now that works!

What makes you say one is better than another? I mean, how dirty is your fuel system that you can tell a gain after a few ounces of chemical additive?

To me, if a product is doing the job it should you won't know it's doing it. You should only know when something is wrong.

 

I've always used a dose of Lucas in the tank when I change the oil.

 

They are all basically just kerosene, most have similar ingredients. I personally like marvel mystery oil I use it in both the oil and gas tank every few oil changes. If you decide to use it and put it in the oil do it a day before your oil change because it pulls all of the carbon into your oil.

 

Use a can of BG44K fuel additive in a full tank of gas :thnopoints:

 

Thanks for your replies. Will be hauling the Harley out to Colorado in a week. Wouldn't hurt to throw a bottle in.

 

More or less preventative maintenance more than anything. I use a different product and I haven't ever noticed performances for better/worse. As in, it definitely isn't meant to make it run better, but the chemical also doesn't inhibit performance.

I wouldn't add it in hopes of a fuel economy increase during your trip or anything like that.

 

i run the concentrated through mine about every 1k, it recommends every 2,500 miles. something else i have no cats and after i got mine tuned to high octane if i run 87 through it i blow black smoke as bad as a diesel when getting on it. high octane is very little to no smoke, on 87 octane i foul plugs about every 10k too and have a lot of build up on o2 senors, etc. on 92-93 with cleaner every so often everything stays much cleaner and runs smoother
