Getting ready to purchase a new set of tires in the next week or so and I've got my choices narrowed down to these two.

Wont be doing much off-roading but the occasional hunting, fishing, camping spot. As you know Michigan gets a lot of snow so I really want them to perform in snow, slush, sleet, ice, rain, etc.

Prices are pretty close with the Falken wildpeak being a little cheaper...

Which should I choose?

Telling you now, tera grappler's SUCK BIG OLE DONKEY DICK! Those tire's are a straight up joke! You get a wheel off pavement and your fucked! Being all out honest here, they really do suck man. I thought they looked ok..but after seeing them in person and fianlly getting a set, I was pissed off bad. Went to go through my yard, mind you there is SOME slant at the bottom of it, and I got stuck. Yep..stuck! first time i had EVER gotten stuck! Both wheel's were spinning.. I literally left the truck in gear, got OUT and watched as the engine at IDLE was enough to break BOTH rear's loose. This was on grass..NOT wet grass, at mid day with no rain in sight.. WTF man.. and they were new!! only had around 300 mile's on them! I was so pissed I went back to the place I got them and swapped, taking a HUGE loss, for a set of half ass bfg all terrains. And yes, they went through the yard just fine..even though i hate those tires too..lol.

Yeah man, I hated them. I of course looked at ALL the reviews just like you did... Otherwise I would have never bought them. IMHO, I believe they have a good rating ONLY because of the fact guys goin off road want mudd grappler's, and guys stayin on road want the tera grappler's. So the off roader's never buy them and because of that they mostly get used on road.

No, I really don't think a guy would get stuck in a mud puddle..But I was trying to just make a point..IF you go off road at all, NO! IF you don't, fine. But even then like capt'n said, they ride like shit and made a good ride a very bad one! And yes, I bought mine new and had a shop I use ALL the time( My buddie's) install them as well as balance, and align them.

I have had the Dynapros for over a year now...22,000 and counting. These tires have performed well in snow, mud, dirt, gravel, and on road. i have no complaints whatsoever. they look good, too. I am totally sold on these tires and will keep buying them as long as I drive my truck or any other truck. They are pretty affordable too...check out Discount Tire Direct.

I don't have any personal experience with the above, but I've always heard mixed reviews on the Nittos (more negative than positive). My last set of tires were Bridgestone Dueler ATs and I loved them, only gripe was tread wear. I've got Firestone Destination ATs on now and my truck rides/drives like shit.

I'm running a set of 285/70R-17 Falken Wildpeak tires. They had 3000 miles on them when I bought them, and I have put another 2000 miles on them, so 5000 miles use in this picture.

These are the best highway tires I've ever owned. They are entirely silent. Seriously, you can be driving down the interstate at 75 mph, and turn off the radio to try and see if you can hear any tire noise, and there is none. Even when there is no wind noise and no exhaust drone, like when you're driving downhill with a tail wind, you still can't hear them. They were already balanced and mounted when I bought them, and the amount of weights on the wheels is minimal. They ride smooth with no bounce, and no wierd tracking problems.

We have had an increadibly dry and warm year this year, and I've only had them on the truck for the last month, so only one day of snow driving, and they did fine. I never even put the truck in four wheel drive. There was no slipping or sliding when stopping or cornering, no issues at all.

I've only had the truck off road one time since these tires were mounted, and you can see the conditions by the picture (sand and slickrock). They worked very good in those conditions. The combination of these tires aired down to 10 psi and the V-8 under the hood made for a lot of fun climbing sand hillclimbs.

I have no complaints with these tires. In fact, they are one of the better sets of tires I've owned.

Well, thanks for that post, I myself know what the next set of tire's i'll be getting will be!

I'm on my second set of Terra Grapplers. Very good in the snow, and absolutely exceptional on wet pavement. Better wet traction than any other tire I've driven. They're also very quiet and wear well if you rotate them regularly. I've had them in 265 and 285mm widths, and the 285's do pick up more rocks than the 265's. I've heard lots of good things about Hankook Dynapro ATM's and I'd like to try a set but they look like they wouldn't be as good in the wet/snow as the Nittos (softer rubber compounds are a must if you want to use them in the winter).

I'd base it off snow...if you drive more wet/wintery conditions than summer conditions (lots of snow and ice) get the Nittos because they're a softer rubber compound...otherwise get the Falkens.

The Terra Grapplers do pretty well...like any all terrain though they'll plug up with mud when it gets sticky...there's no real replacement for a dedicated mud tire. They do quite well for themselves though...soft rubber compound means more traction in any environment...wears faster though. Always a trade-off...if it's cold you'll see more benefit from a softer rubber compound. If I lived in Phoenix or Texas for example I wouldn't run Terra Grapplers, but up here they're better than anything else I've seen.

i've had 2 sets of cooper discoverer stt's and i love them. I know their more of a mud tire but they handle real well on the street and rain. I had a pair of 31x1050's that were only like $140 a tire. I now have 33"s on my truck and when i upgrade to 35"s i'll be going with them again. They dont have but a little road noise that cant even be heard over my exhaust.

just to give you something to think about, check out the cooper discoverer st maxx. That's going to be my next tire. less aggresive than your hybrid like a duratrac, but you don't sacrifice performance. They are reasonably priced, a set of 4 in my current tire size would run me 1k.

there are some videos of the wildpeaks on a jeep and they did really well for them out in moab

I have just the STT's. I love them. I'm at over 30k miles on them and still have plenty of tread left. I've taken care of this set tho and rotated them like i should. Once i put the body lift on and these wear out i'm going to a 35x1250 stt. They perform great offroad, snow, rain, and street. I've never aired them down to see how they perform but i plan on it for the offroad meet next month.
