ya its easy on the a pillar just get a silvy for the 00-06 i think its what i got in my truck but you will have to trim and heat it up to reform it

Only gauges I have seen on the steering column is a scan gauge that 06Stinger installed. Full out pods would look stupid there and would block the view of your other gauges.

 

I would love to have a pod on the column! Will a silverado column pod really work?

any clue on how to get the texture back looking plastic ofter you have fiberglassed it to make it look more OEM

 

Gauge Pod for Dash Bezel -- Saw this I think on Coloradofans. Once I do a little sanding & some primer and paint it'll look good. Used 2" PVC pipe, took ~2hrs shaping & cuttings, and then used some plastic-to-plastic epoxy to glue it together.

I did the same as 1BADI5 -- really good location IMO. I was debating about doing dual Aeroforce w/ the second on the RH side but was wondering how much a pain clearance for the auto shifter would be.

1BADI5, i see you've replaced the auto shifter -- does that provide more clearance over OEM for a gauge there?

 

 

I wrote up a how-to over on Coloradofans for adding gauges by the cluster using PVC pipe. My truck was a 5 speed so I was able to add dual gauges but the auto guys said there are clearance issues with the right hand gauge.

 

I have an auto and added dual guages.........I have about an 1/8" between the SSK shifter and the guage bezel......lots of prep work, measuring and mock ups ensured a perfect fit.

 

Check out a thread called "gauge mounting pics". There are pics of my gauge pods as well as a link to my how-to on Cfans.

 

I put a 3 gauge pod in the center of my dash, just bought a universal auto meter pod, and plastic epoxy, a lot of sanding, then that RM color match paint and adhesion rattle can shit. Came out alright. And yes afr is way off, took this pic when i was working on cold start enrichment with e85.

 

great job. looks awesome. i always thought the dash guage would look sick and you totally confirmed my wonder.

 

Re: Pod gauges. i made a killer prototype

my step dad makes props for movies and basically he makes exact replicas of guns and different things actors run around with or hit other actors with. so basically i had him take some of these gauge pods from a new mustang that are somewhat egg shaped and fabricated them into the pillar of my colorado and then make a clean mold of that so that it looks like the pods came in the pillar with a factory look. if anyone is interested, and i get enough hits, ill post some pics of my prototype and you guys can tell me what you think. i only made a 3 gauge pillar pod but if all goes well with this, ill talk to the admin about letting me hook you guys up.

 

^^agreed, if i had the time to take my dash out and mold it up real good, I'd probably do the same, looks good though!
