What do you mean cut your bumper.. like cut the metal part? You do know that the plastic piece comes completely off and you can achieve basically the same thing.

 

Cut it so there is only metal showing, I know the whole plastic bumper comes off but those clips are a pain to get undone, I just plan on taking my grinder to it. That's how I took off the lower part of the bumper (the air dam?).

 

As long as you leave the skid plate that deflects air up to the rad, you won't have any issues. Many members here have taken the valence completely off, including myself.

 

Thanks for posting the pic, that's what I want mine to look like. Did you notice more mud and debris getting into your engine compartment without the bumper?

 

No more mud than normal I don't think.

With the bumper right off the truck I was able to get the valence off with some pliers pretty easy. Broke all the clips though.

 

Yeah I think that would be the easiest way to do it then. I don't plan on keeping the bumper so breaking the clips wouldn't matter. Did you powdercoat yours, or just paint it black?

 

I painted it with Bedliner. It used to be chrome.

I took an angle grinder to the chrome with a 40 grit flapper disc

 

I was thinking I might powercoat mine. How long ago did you bedline yours and how has it held up?

 

The first time I painted it was more than a year ago. I didnt grind the chrome off and it faded and chipped really bad.

This paint job is about 2 months old. This time I properly prepped the bumper by grinding the chrome off, and using adhesion promoter.
