I would pay good money to eliminate all the small chassis squeaks..
I'm pretty sure the small "tink tink tink" noises are the damn leaf-springs, but I hit 'em with lithium spray lube over and over. I can't get it on a lift all the time to open the leafs up.
Can't be jacking it up either. Tried running onto a curb, but that doesn't seem help.

Damn shame there isn't a way to put a Zerk fitting on them.
I got some other little groans also.. I'll have to get it into a shop next week.
Damn chassis noises are irritating me.

Lube up the body mount bushings and make sure the steering rack is tight to the crossmember while you're at it.

On the same note, you should hear my neighbor's '09 Tacoma when he pulls into his driveway.....sounds like a worn out beater. It's only got 42K miles on it.

Wouldn't have thought of the steering rack.
Thanks for posting.

What he said...

In the spring and fall I lube the cab mounts.
Loosen the four bolts a bit, spray with Silicon-in-a-can, and tighten (55 ft lbs or something, I can't remember right now)
I also silicon spray the shackles. I spray silicon onto a rag and wipe down the door seals.

Haven't had rattles so far.
Check the heat shields on the exhaust - crappy welds can break and they rattle every time you get on the gas.

(Use silicon and not WD-40)

You're not alone man. I have clicks, rattles, and squeaks. I blame most of mine on those shit rubber suspension bushings and body mounts aren't the best design once they get some age to them. The best way to quiet the leaf springs is to remove them and put some lithium grease between each leaf.
All great suggestions, thanks!

Speaking of shit rubber bushings, when I do my lift I'm planning on replacing both the upper and lower a arms and balljoints and tie rods...so basically the whole front end, except the sway bar (that i'll pull to go wheeling)

Does anyone have a list of poly bushings for our trucks? Or should I reach out to some manufacturers now and see if we can get any made? Still working on that rear diff skid plate with Boztec.

I was going to make a thread, but I guess I'll throw it up in here.

Can we get a sticky of ANY and ALL bushings that can be replaced/torqued down? I'm going through my truck this winter and replacing any that I can in hopes to track down these damn squeaks.

Control arm bushings are the main squeakers up front. In your case with having a v8 swap I would suggest pulling the bushings and try and find a replacement from energy suspensions that are polyurethane or go one step further and have some custom control arms made with polyurethane bushings and uniballs. That will make your truck handle a lot better and should prevent any squeaks and creaks from the control arms.

My exhaust heat shield is 90% of my noise.. I also have strange rattle on the drivers side... Sounds like a loose fender liner but everytime I check my liner its tightly snugged into my well... Idk what the issue is but it drives me insane

I had a rattle a couple of years ago and I was sure it was a fender liner ('cause mine were loose). After a while someone here posted that he had found his hood hinge was a little loose.
I checked and found that mine was loose also... tightened it up and that took care of it.
Check it out...

I'll try this weekend to get into a file I collected from this site (and ColoradoFans) over the past few years.

I recall that there is something in my files for some something-or-other that gets loose in the door. I think it's part of the window regulator mechanism.

The hood hinge I posted above..
Fender-liners..
There is already a how-to for curing exhaust rattles. We could include mention of that and a link to it.
Some great chassis rattle cures posted in this thread.

We could include everyone's tips on using Dynamat, etc. for general interior insulation improvements.

I've posted previously about my use of fiberglass insulation in the roof above the headliner.

I'm sure all the great folks here will contribute more.

Kinda super-busy for the next couple of weeks but I'll get on collecting and organizing it all.

man everytime i get out of my driverside it squeaks.. i haven't figured out where its coming from its either the seat.. or part of the rear suspension but im by no means fat... and i for the love of god cannot figure out what the hell it is.. but its really annoying.

that and since i just fixed my tonneau cover.. it rubs against the back of the cab.... soo annoying i'll fix that today space it back a hair or two..

My grille drives me insane. It chirps and stuff specially when the efan kicks on high. It makes me want to go rip it off sometimes while sitting there idling for an extended period of time.

Thinking about it today on the drive home after work I realized that the little "tink tink tink" squeak from the undercarriage I've been looking for for a year now could possibly be my cab mounts.

Until this thread and responses above from xseler and SpindlyJim I never gave the cab mounts a thought...
It'll be a few days before I can get her up on a lift, but I'm hopeful and feeling better...

When I bought mine used at 31xxxthe it was a little squeaky when the body would flex coming into a driveway or uneven surface. Turned out to be the body mount bushings. All I did was put a jack with a 2x4 on the body near each mount(one at a time) and removed them, wire wheeled/brushed the steel sleeve( a lot of buildup and corrosion on them). Then I put tire mounting paste(I work at a commercial tire shop) that's made to keep the beads of tires soft even when its cold out. It worked for 2 years, bur I think I need to do it again soon cuz I started to notice that same noise again. If you drive at 5~ MPH and jerk your steering wheel side to.side real.quick it will usually make the noise if the bushings/sleeves are dry.

How many body mounts are there on a crew cab?

Yesterday I was able to pull all my body-to-frame mounts, clean them up, and grease them.. Except one, the front-most on the passenger side. It was too corroded and I couldn't get it off without destroying it and I didn't have a replacement.

I had intended to buy replacements all around anyway, but I just didn't have an opportunity to get them ordered.

The result is that most of my squeak-squeak is gone, except a small bit from the general area of that one on the passenger side I was not able to remove.
Damnation, I'll have to take it later to a shop and have it replaced with a new one.

Still, removing and greasing the cab mounts was a big success.

A big thanks to xseler, SpindlyJim, and FixxxerKH202 for your input!

Karlen,

Reason to have VIN is to make sure that I am getting you the correct part number for your vehicle. If you would like I can check with year, make and model of your vehicle. If you don’t wish to send me this information here is a link you may go to and find the information you need GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts You may find the following web sites helpful. General Motors neither endorses nor maintains these sites and will not be responsible for any of its contents.

If you have any further questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,

Tina

I just asked if anybody had the part numbers handy before I go looking around. You don't need a vin to post part numbers for a vehicle that barely changed in it's 8 year run.

Why would you question someone's offer to obtain the info you wanted? It isn't as if GM Customer Service is trying to sell anything to you.

Any time I've gone to a GM parts counter to order anything at all for my truck, they ask for the VIN. It's just normal procedure to ensure they give you what you need.

I too would doubt that the body mounts have changed any over the years, but there's always the possibility... better to do it "by the book" and be sure.

Considering I asked for proof from this supposed GM rep in their intro thread, only to get the mods pissy, they never showed proof. I'm not giving anybody my vin over body mount bushings. I've also bought a shit ton of parts from dealers without a vin being involved.
