I don't want to see the shit tons on the web that are just awesome. I want to see some of your work.

I have been practicing and studying tilt shift and don't think I have anything super yet but here is what I got.

This is done in software. I don't own a lense for it.

nice topic J-Bo. I've been playing around with this also in photoshop. Next time I'm on my home computer I'll load some up.

Thanks guys. :)

Dan, just start practicing in PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro.

Andrew, I am working on the defined edge of the sharp mask. On the truck shots, half the background is above the truck so I couldn't feather it. If the shot was snapped up higher, I could have feathered the edge. It also depends on the shot. Some scenes don't show it as bad.

Darek, I like the third shot of my truck better. The shot was taken further back, the edges of the sharp mask isn't as obvious and the vignetting isn't as bad. I intentionally put the vignetting in there but reduced it in the third. The second shot does not have it at all as you pointed out but the sharp mask is more visable. I like the vignetting, I think it adds to the effect if done properly. It's something I am still working on.

The websites that are out there that perform this for you is ok. You still have to edit the photo for levels, as I found if the levels are adjusted a little too high for normal photos, it adds to the effect.

If you bring up the saturation a little too high, it makes everything look fake.

Carefull not to allow the subject become blurred at the top or bottoms, a camera with a tilt shift lense would still be able to focus on the subject fairly well. ;)
