Could a bad TCM fuse cause torque converter not to lock up??? Used a deep scanner and found no transmission codes. Reason for asking this question, is at 65-70 MPH I'm reving in the 3000 rpm range, and all on here said I should be more in the 2000 rpm range. I'm still very new with this truck.

"TCM" usually refers to the Transmission Control Module. Transmission Control Modules were not used on 2005 models. The transmission for that year was controlled by the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

There is a "TRAN" fuse for the transmission, but that fuse covers most all of the shift solenoids in the transmission, so if it "blew" there would be other problems besides the torque converter.

There is also a "TCCM" fuse, but that is for the 4wd Transfer Case.

Then why in the heck GM put a fuse in the box marked TCM??? Go figure, right. and Thanks about the truck.
It was a trade in at our Audi store, they wanted to wholesale it so I bought it. Whoever owned it did a lot of supension work on it QA1 coilovers in front, QA1 adjustable shocks in the rear, HUGE sway bars, and as I said once before a "line" boost for the trans, which makes me think it might have been chipped. Has 120K on it now...

gonna check the fuse this week and make sure it's not blown. The only saving grace about this problem at this time is I don't have to drive the freeway to work, I live less than 3 miles away so not having overdrive is "OK" for now;but I still think it was what we called it in the old days "chipped". I'll let you know what I find out next week.....

Any chance that the fuse box is not original to the truck? Assuming that your profile is correct, there is no Transmission Control Module in your 2005, Extended Cab, 2wd, 3.5 eng, truck.

Can you get a picture of the fuse location and the reference for it on the inside of the fuse box lid?

If the only visible mods are shocks and sway bars what reason would there be to modify the transmission? The 3.5 is hardly a performance engine, even with a tune.

Check for a P0741 code. Torque Converter Solenoid bad or stuck. Also check for shuddering under load (like going up a hill) excessive trans temp, super dark fluid.

This is not going to be "good news" if you have 2 or 3 of these. What's is going on in this case is the trans is dying and in need of rebuild (guess how I know). BTW - The ECU and TCM are 2008 & later. Previous to that the ECU controls the trans. (4L60E - electronic).

My truck is a 2007
