Transmission Leak

i took my 08 3.7 z71 colorado to the stealership to inspect a leak coming from my transmission. i thought it was just the pan gasket leaking, no biggy right?

so the report comes back with the following:

"VERIFIED CUSTOMER CONCERN. FOUND TRANSMISSION PUMP SEAL TO BE LEAKING. RECOMMEND REPLACE TRANSMISSION PUMP O-RING, GASKET, T/C SEAL, TURBINE SHAFT O-RING, TRANSMISSION FILTER W/GASKET. EST $1704"

yikes.. so much for the pan gasket as being the culprit..

i took a look at the view hole underneath the bell housing and found no fluid leaking from that area.

is the transmission pump towards the front of the truck when looking through the view hole or is it located near the transmission pan side?

im still wondering if my first inclination was right and the o ring stuff was just a gimmick to charge me more to pull the transmission out.

If the trans pump "was" leaking you would have seen it from the inspection port(where you looked)

If you could post some pictures that would be helpful

NOW, my experience. I had 2 leaks on mine before I swapped to a 5 speed>

1) output shaft seal where the driveshaft slides in - easy fix once you remove the driveshaft

2) the transmission dipstick tube seal - this is even an easier fix. Get the $2 seal from the dealer. Remove the transmission dipstick, shit can the old one, slide the new one in, reinstall the dipstick the done. NOTE: this leak caused a hell of a mess under my truck
