Hey guys, just wanted to get everyones opinion on my truck issue im having.

It seems my truck has started a whine, I did a little research and im not hitting on anything.
All the conversations seem to lead to other conversations and no outcome.

So I checked the truck over and its not the power steering, its not the belts or pulleys. The fluid in the tranny is full and looks good.

It only makes the whine when in Reverse or Drive, it doesn't do it while in park or neutral.
So that eliminates the torque converter?

The truck has 93k on the clock, its been lifted for about 15-20k Miles, seems to have no issue shifting or with performance. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue and what was the problem, and what did you have to do to fix it?

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I would agree that it's probably you diff. The fluid should be changed every so often. I have noticed in other vehicles that my family has owned that you will hear weird noises and will lock/ unlock or stick a some random times. If you have a G80 or a locker

I noticed a few minutes ago when i went to the drive threw, when i pulled up to the window, the whine echoed pretty loud. It definitely sounds like its coming from the front, and the truck is 2WD.

That is about what we have narrowed it down to. I'm gonna change the fluid, and filter first. See if that makes a difference, if not the next step is pull the tranny and replace the front pump.

The whine has got louder, so i took it to three transmission places: GM dealership i bought it from, AAMCO and a mom and pops transmission specialist and all three stated that the transmission front pump was about to give out and grenade the transmission. So before it did, I dropped it off to have the transmission taken out and gone threw and fully rebuilt.

My Whine came back and good friend who repairs cars looked at it.He feels its a Transmission pump going bad or torgue convertor ...Changed fluid and filter and it went away and came back.

It does it loud in park when cold and not as loud when hot ..Same driving it goes away when its hot and comes back when starting cold..

I am very sad on this truck ..Engine was confirmed 2nd time it bad rings mostly in 3rd cyl from front eating oil badly and no smoke from exhaust UNLESS you rev engine then it will spray oil on driveway ..Now transmission going out..

i had price of $7,000.00 to install rebuilt engine was going to do it but the mechanic said why waste your money if its bad tranny finally found a mechanic that tells truth he could have took me..

sad thing most want me to just trade in truck and not tell dealer that just does not sit well with me .debating on if to get 2017 colorado or go to full size truck ..

Had 5 chevys born chevy man and never had piece of junk like this truck in my life...Then in garage comes a buddy and says jim I traded my colo in because i was on my 2nd set of cylinder heads first one under warranty and only lasted 1 year.......TERRIBLE.I hope enough people get claass action suit against GM on this...46,000 miles and having these troubles on a garage kept baby this truck ...

Vehicles have issues. It happens. While unfortunate, stating things like "class action lawsuits" is an overreaction. There are trucks on this forum with over 300k miles. Also trucks who shit the bed at 100k. Sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on.

And for the record. Mileage is only one factor on the longevity of parts. Your truck is 8 years old. While the miles are low, the age necessarily isn't. I've put 46k miles on my truck in two years. Each vehicle reacts differently to how it's handled and maintained.

I wish the best to you Jim and hope your next Chevrolet treats you better. But let's not slam Chevy too hard my friend.
