I'm new to this forum, I came from a s10,now I own 05 colorado z71 crew cab for about 6 months ,I'm still learning about this truck, the problem is when I bought the truck ,previous owner told me , truck needs a fan clutch because was so loud , so I bought a new fan clutch ,but still sounds like a mack truck, I noticed that if I put in neutral ,and press the gas pedal ,2 times ,loud sound disappear, could be a bad fan clutch ,thermostat, mass air sensor, or what are you thoughts?

Nice 1st post (vs. intro.)...

Does the noise change up/down w/RPM's? If so, when's the last time your serpentine belt & tenshioner were replaced?

Iceman 62 sorry about that , but I'm tire about the noise, so the more rpms the louder the noise, belt has been replace but tension belt I dont know ,I'm thinking replace the thermostat mybe got stuck ,that's why when i press the gas pedal and put in neutral the noise go away,so the thermostat tends to open or closes whit the pressure I guess! I'm not sure

Not a thermostat problem. I'd take the belt off and see if the noise goes away. If it does you at least know it's one of the belt driven items. Or, you could just take a big pipe wrench and screw the fan off and see if that is what was making the noise. Obviously, you shouldn't run it very long with the belt or the fan off, but it's a sure way to make sure that's the problem. Definitely not a thermostat problem though.

If you want it right, just buy the stock Delco part. I have towed loads in excess of 5,000 lbs up steep California mountains in over 105F weather with my 3.5 and its stock fan clutch, no problem. The fan clutch is a variable speed drive that thermostatically modulates the fan speed in relationship to the heat of the air passing thru the A/C condenser and radiator. The relationship between the operating temperatures of the fan clutch and the engine thermostat is critical for maximum cooling capacity but also important for minimizing fan power when the cooling load is light.
An aftermarket fan clutch will be designed to fit the maximum number of applications and will not be designed specific to your truck.

My reason for suggesting you take the fan belt off was to see if one of the belt driven items might be bad - bad bearing - causing the noise. I was not considering that the belt itself was bad. I also suggested that you could screw the fan and clutch off with a big pipe wrench and see if that makes the noise go away.
I'm just trying to help you figure out what the noise is. I'll back off and let you continue to consider replacing the thermostat.

On first startup and running in extreme heat, mine sounds like a big rig as well until I move fast enough. Always has since new.

This is the finale post, so I took the fan clutch off, and l went for spin and Wala, noise has gone ,I knew it I was the fan clutch, so I bought tye heavy duty fan, I didn't bought the acdelco because in my local auto parts ,nobody had it, so I bought the duralast and now runs smooth and lighter loud air noise is gone ! Thx ya'll
