i don't hate them enough to wanna spend money to change them. honestly i have no problem with torsion bars

 

id definitely be down as long as it wasnt super expensive..

 

i like adjustable free lift, i don't see the reason for coils unless desert racing,lowering, or on big ass 1 ton trucks

I just finished lifting my truck and had such a bitch of a time getting the torsion keys and bars all setback up again. They suck some pretty epic dick in my opinion...

Throw me in as well, I think Superlift made a kit to convert torsion bars to coilover on Rangers. There was a dicussion thread on this in the past. Nothing came of it though.

a kit prob aint happpening from the big companies...to much work for little revenue...colorados arent a big enough market for any company to justify r&d for a bolt on kit

solid axel pls i broke a cv on a torsion bar lift (angles are crazy) i hate them... with a passion!!!!!!!

 

Solid axles are definitely better when you're wheeling.

As for on-road comfort though, TBars > Solid Axle.

For most people, the TBars are perfectly fine...it's just us die-hards that actually go wheeling etc. that want the solid axle.

 

solid axle swaps arent as difficult as people think.ive done a few on tacomas and one on a nissan frontier. biggest trick is steering. but once you find an axle setup you like with the correct width, that part is easy as pie to get on. then just do whatever type of steering will function the best. axles are cheap at junkyards people im sure with some time and shopping around it could be done for under 700

yea if you know how to fabricate parts and can do it all yourself, paying someone to do it all for you would be hell

 

it could be done in 10 hours at the right shop. i promise you could do a solid axle swap for less then ANY long travel suspension

thats true because theres no math involved...long travel is such a calculated project from design to install....plus theres prob like 96% more fab work involved as well

 

absolute bare minimum of 2500. thats with low grade shocks, lots of your own labor and great deals

 

i would be extemely happy if i could sas my truck for twice that much money.

torsion bars do suck. they wouldnt affect my decision to buy a vehicle. but there is a reason no one uses them anymore(chevy 2500 is all i can think of).

 

Like I said before...they're not as strong or capable off road as a solid axle...but ride FAR better on the highway though...which is better for 99% of the people that buy pickup trucks.

 

Torsion bar or no torsion bar, it still wont stop the fact that car companys keep putting ifs in trucks. The f250 and dodge full sized trucks are the only one that i can think of that come with a solid axle in the front.
