Hi everyone, first off I must say that this site has been extremely helpful since the first day I got my truck. Its a 2006 colorado ext 2wd. The truck has a 'Z71' sticker on both sides and a 'sport' badge on the tailgate. I know Z71 stands for off road package, however, the truck has two coil springs instead of shocks at the front. I thought all the Z71's would have front shocks installed. I am very confused now. Could someone be kind enough to explain to me what features came with Z71 or sport or both. Thanks in advance.

Z71s do not have front coils. Every other model has coils up front. You probably have a Z85 with some pretty stickers.

thanks so much guys. I got the truck like a month ago from a private dealer. Is it possible that I have a Z85 but with Z71 stickers? I mean these are not some fake stickers. The truck has coil springs both up front and back.
Do you have coils over shocks? since these trucks have leaf springs in back on all models. post pictures please.

Ok guys. I doubt checked the up front coil springs. There are actually two shocks inside of them. I also looked at the sticker inside the glove box. Am I supposed to find 'Z71' if the truck had off road package installed? Cuz 'Z71' is def not there. I spotted 'Z85' and few other 'Z**'s..but not 'Z71'

Coil overs up front and Z85 in the glove box means you have a 2wd Z85... the model between the sport (ZQ8) and the offroad (Z71) package...
I guess so eh..I went to the GM deal yesterday and they printed out a list of features installed on my truck. One of the guys looked at it and said it didnt have the off road package. is there any way I can upgrade to a Z71? how much will that cost me?
I'm assuming you want it to look like a Z71? How about some pics? Does your truck have large flares? Z71 wheels? Can't help you really without seeing how it looks like now, especially if you don't know what you have yourself.
A Z71 is mostly cosmetic and a few other things, but nothing drastic IMO.

A Z71 compared to what he has = completely different front suspension and the flares.
We already established the fact he has a 2wd Z85.
To get it to resemble a Z71, you would need the flares and about 2" of lift if I remember correctly. Would be cheaper than trading the truck in unless you can get a shit-hot deal.
