Hey guys I am getting mixed information on what drop rubs and what does not, I am thinking 2/3 drop but I'd like a 3/4. what drop can I do without rubbing? And what tire should I run, 35 series or 40 series?

This will be on a crew cab Z85 with 20" SS wheels.

Thanks

i am going to run a 275/35/20 on my zq8. i think a 2/3 from a Z85 height is as low as I would be able to go to avoid rubbing on the front on large bumps. I will probably have rub at full lock. I'm not to worried about full lock though. My swaybar would be what gets tire contact 1st I think.

inexperienced guess...

I have an 07 Z85 lowered 3/4 and I have run several size tires. I've had 255/40R20's, 245/35R20's and presently I have 245/40R20's. You have to consider the wheel back spacing also. That is very important. Bottom line most of the sizes will rub on 20's. Presently mine only rub on large bumps. Here in Cali we have horrible roads so I just drive carefully and look ahead while driving.

I have ran 275/45/20s on my Z85 with a 2/3 drop and only rubbing at full turn

A full turn wouldn't matter to me, currently I still have my s10 with a 4/5 drop on 20s and it rubs alot, I don't get a lot of turning that's with a 245/35/20 .
I want a nice ride on my new truck not have rubbing all the time I can handle a bit here and there

Would 40 series tires be to much?

you have to think about the tire. 40 series dont really mean much unless you tell me how wide they are.

Like your S10 tire size: 245 is how wide it is and 35 is 35% of how wide it is. so the higher the first number is, the taller the tire is.

Coming from experience, if you go with a uncommon tire size the more expensive it is.
275/45/20 is $126 each
255/35/20 is $81 each

these are more common size

265/40/20 is $221 each
255/40/20 is $180 each
these are not very common
these prices where pulled from discount tire and I am sure prices will very on your area and store

I'm a z85 and I'm running 245/35/20 I'm a 4/6 now but I was a 3/4 I had more axle slap than anything
So I would suggest a notch

What wheel offset?

I have run 245/35/20 on a 3/4 drop with minimal rubbing. I also ran 245/40/20 on a 2/3 with no rubbing at all
What wheel offset?

I may get 1/4" spacers if I have to. I am going to be running a 27mm offset. comming from a 28mm offset on the hyper silver 18x8 wheels. If I have to push the wheel out more I can get another 6.5mm from the spacer which will make it sit < 6mm inward from where the hypersilver currently sits. The overall height is taller by a smidge.

The extra tire width should be right at the edge of rub at full lock on the sway bar.

Without the spacers:
Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 11.7mm closer to the suspension. The outer rim will poke out 13.7mm more than before.

With the spacers it will drop it to only 5.2mm on the inward and raise the outside to 20.2mm

i have the tahoe LTZ 20's
believe they are 20x8.5 with a 30 or 31 offset
4/4 drop
running 255/35/20's, cover the rims pretty damn well
can turn lock to lock with no rubbing of much of anything as long as im not moving to fast

i get a descent rub here and there on front inner driveside fenderwell(because of it being flat for battery), alot less on passenger side

as far as getting them in different offsets, i havent personally seen them, but would imagine they WOULD NOT be my first choice considering the price they will more then likely want
