Holy shit, Josh. Did you know that dude at all?
Naw, thank god. What a whack-job! Apparently he was sour because they were forcing him to transfer to Hawaii....boo fucking hoo, right! He had been fighting it for a while, but his time was up.
He knew exactly how to hit the National Airspace System too, since he worked/maintained all the radar and communication equipment. We hadn't had a disaster like that since 9/11...and even then, that was only crazy for a matter of days, this lasted over 3 weeks. The low level facilities underneath Chicago Center's airspace had a 5X increase in workload...eff!
Question for you guys. If you had the money. How would you go about buying a vehicle from another state. How would you go about trying to figure out its not a piece of shit.
I've done it twice, both with pretty good results. *knock on wood*
I bought a Mazda Protege5 off someone in TN, found it on a Mazda forum I joined when I was researching those cars. It had a blown up engine, but it was clean as HELL, and came with a LOT of quality parts on it that I'd be able to sell to finance a new motor. Also had him send me dozens of pictures of every angle possible, so I knew what I was getting, and he was nice enough to oblige. He was just as new to out of state transactions as I was, and he wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the car too, so he was easy to work with. Since I didn't care about it's running condition due to the blown motor, there was really very little risk there. I even made a few grand off it when I sold it up here, because it was so clean.
And, my Canyon is from Gross Point, MI. I found it on Detroit Craigslist, and the guy delivered it to my door, 3hr trip one way. We worked that out in the negotiations. lol His wife was from my town, so they had a reason to visit family. Again, working with the right seller made all the difference in the world. He was a nice guy too, I could tell he took great care of the truck, and genuinely cared who he sold it too. He could tell my enthusiasm for these trucks, so it was a great match. We just made a gentleman's agreement over the phone that as long as the truck was as he said it was, I'd give him his price.
Both times I had to have an out of state inspection done at the title office though, but it wasn't anything more than a person coming out to double check the VIN.
Where is said vehicle located? I'm sure there's a forum member local to it who could check the car out and maybe send detailed pics? I did that twice. When I was looking for a Mazda 6 Wagon to buy, I found one up in NJ. Had a guy off my Trailblazer forum check it out for me, and he gave me a great review of it. It wasn't worth my time. lol And, a friend of mine found a nice looking Civic Si down in Cincinnati, I had someone off my Mazda forum check it out for me and send me pics. Turned out to be a total piece of shit....
