After doing an engine swap - 3.7 to 5.3 what about insurance. Do you let you insurance company know? Can they deny coverage in case of an accident? I would like to do a swap, but these questions are slowing down progress :)

Having worked for an insurance company in a past life, You should let them know you put a bigger engine in if they are covering the cost of replacement.

This was over 20 years ago, but I watched a kid with a lowered older small truck getting a damage estimate on replacing the stereo equipment that was stolen from the truck. He had recent receipts totaling more than the actual cash value of his truck and was upset when they totaled his truck. Had he placed the modifying endorsement on it, they would have covered him. As it was, they also canceled his policies for the modifications done while lowering the truck.

On the other hand, if all you are running is liability insurance, then don't tell them a damn thing!

no matter what you do they win so why bother insuring it.

they either charge more or make excuses to refuse to cover it.

if you put a roll cage and a 5 point seatbelt in your car they charge you more despite the fact that those items increase your chances of survival while reducing injury chances.

Insurance companies don't make money if you survive a crash. a cage will cost them money.

But on a side note.
If your running full coverage and you do anything to the car. if there covering the bill in a collision you must let them know. even if it doesn't change its value. because a change to the car could be enough for them to decline coverage. and yes your policy may go up. but its better than not being covered when you think you will be.
