I don't think anyone has done an I6 swap. It would be especially hard for you because you have a seperate PCM and TCM. If you had an 04-07 the PCM/TCM were integrated all into one.

I think the TB/Envoy have the single PCM setup but i might be wrong!

oh so doing a I6 swap we need two computer plus the complete wiring harness. man i wish the swaps would be easier just like the 99+ chevys lol.

 

another reason i wanted a I6 was because i found them for like 500 bucks complete i guess a v8 is the way to go

 

yah man don't bother with an I6 go 5.3L or atleast 4.8L the lil 4.8s are very capable lil engines with the right mods!!! I have seen them push a silverado into the low 13s all motor and mid 12s with just a 100shot added on!!

 

yeah i know the 4.8s can haul but i guess i will just wait.

I'm not sure an I-6 would physically fit into our trucks? That's probably why they lopped a cylinder off to begin with! :lol:

 

well that might be true since v8s are wider instead of longer.

Too much of a hassle for a I6 swap just swap out for a V8

 

its a good idea but if you were to go with a 6 i would go with a 4.3 outta the silverados my dads 06 and 08 get up and go! if mine ever goes im gonna prolly do the 4.3 swap plus i think the v8 would be too much for what i do with it and its 4x4 im not draggin like tx so i think it would be a good swap plus if i wanted more power id just s/c the 6.....

Is there a difference between the 4.3 out of the Silverado and the 4.3 out of an S-10? I had the 4.3 in my S-10 Xtreme and it was decent. But I'd take the I5 over the 4.3 any day.

Sorry Bro, but Rob is on th money here. The cost is not worth it either. A 4.8/5.3/6.0 in the long run will be cheaper and more rewarding. The I6 option is not even worth it......if it did fit.

yeah i already have a some cash saved up for the swap so all i got to do is start looking for a donor car\truck.
only engine that is going in this truck now is a 6.0 or a 6.2

 

so LS2 or LS3?? or u talking LQ4, LQ9, or what ever is the one that comes in the new Denali's??

 

yeah either an ls2 from a gto or the 6.2 from a newer caddy or if thats to much a regular 6.0 i was thinking of 5.7 cause you can find quick but i think a 6. whatever would be better heavier but better.

 

We have an 07 Escalade and the engine in that thing is nasty. If you throw one in your truck I'll call you a god.

 

hopefully next year i can get something going as for now i guess i can try an make it a quick I4 lol

An I6 or V6 won't cut it for all the reasons listed above, and because of the sound. All that work and money, and not have V8 sound?

 

For some reason, I don't think sound is the first thing people think of when toying with the idea of an engine swap.

 

I agree. The first thing I would look for is horsepower of the new engine, then compatability with my drivetrain. Once it's finished, it will be a testament to my know how. I'll definitely have to show it off. V8 sound will be a part of it. Rumbling with a cam lope. Can't get more American than that!

A little cheaper on the Horsepower/cost ratio, but with out the modifying madness showdown.
