I know how long mine is lol. But i don't think it'd be any help.

alright mine i would appreciate that... im pretty sure i found a direct-replacement double-cardan drive shaft off another vehicle, to get rid of the cv-style drive shaft.

 

It's 28" from end of flange to CL of ujoint.

Mine is also on the garage floor. It seems to break less there.

 

Thanks man, the driveshaft im looking to retrofit is 26.5" fully closed and aprox. 40" fully extended.

Its from a 2008 "Chevrolet/Isuzu Dmax"... the truck on which the Colorado is based on if im not mistaken. These have a very very similar drivetrain configuration, and they use the same transfer case we use... here is a picture of the driveshaft:
