I not aware of any factory red flashing light. Is there an aftermarket alarm? Post a pic.

 

My 700 has the security light... But the 355 does not.
The Kenwood H.U. Does have a security light... Not the truck.

 

It is the red padlock looking light on the dashboard on the right side with the battery and other lights. It is the stock light that I think shows the security system is working. I just never noticed it blinked when the truck was locked. Everything seems to be working fine otherwise.

Never noticed any light on the 355...
The "lock" light comes on when you turn the key on... Then goes off when it fires up.
Never has blinked or been red... Amber only... ??? Weird... LOL

 

I have a 2006 Colorado Crew Cab, mine blinks when using the remote but not the key.

 

Yea, that's what I am talking about. But does it continue to blink all the time? So when I hit the lock on the key fob, the red padlock light on the dash blinks about once ever 2 or 3 seconds. And continues to do so until I unlocked the doors. I then start the motor, it stays on for about 2 or 3 seconds and turns off. I even went so far as to lock myself in the car and open the door manually, the horn sounded, so I think it is all working ok. Just never noticed that light blinking before.

 

The security light serves two functions, the Contents Theft Deterrent System and PassLock Vehicle Theft System. It only works with PassLock when the ignition switch is in ON or START position.

 

I'm having the same issue anyone else know if this is normal?

 

Strange that this question has not been addressed before. At least not from what I can remember. The Owner's Manual does state: "Lock the doors with the RKE transmitter. The security light, located on the instrument panel cluster, will flash". It just doesn't say how many times or for how long.

I just locked my truck with the remote and the light has been flashing, every 2-3 seconds as mentioned by redrocker652002, for 30 minutes. I'm guessing it will remain like that until the truck is unlocked. I wouldn't have noticed it before as I normally lock my truck with the switch on the door. Yes, I know that does not arm the Theft Prevention System.

 

I am having the same issue. 2005, Crew Cab, LS. Steady blinking of the security light when I exit the vehicle and lock the doors using the fob. Otherwise no problems. I'll probably just stop using the fob.

 

I have a 2011 Canyon I bought new in May 2011 and I never thought to look at the security light after I locked the doors, after reading this post I went out and checked my truck and the light blinks about every 5 sec. Truck is a stock V8 4x4 SLT Canyon
