I'm open to all comments, suggestions, criticisms, and whatever else you guys can come up with.

The concept:

I used 1.5in pvc so the OD was 1.75in which is the size of the DOM i'll be using later on.

i'm still debating the center upright. i'm still undecided whether or not i should have it straight up as seen on the passenger side or as a brace off the front as seen on the driver side.

i think i'll make the first and maybe the middle cross-bar removable if i need to move something tall and don't have to use my trailer. then again with my lifting plans i don't think i want to lift a fridge or water heater 4 ft in the air

what do you guys think?????

Minus holding a spare on top, what would the purpose of it be? Just for looks?

I imagine it on my truck but can already imagine ppl saying, "whats that for?" and i couldnt give them an answer.

Thats the only thing that i can think of right off the top of my head.

I like it kevin, but start slanting back closer to the front of the cab, so the angle is less extreme for the slant.

You could probably pretty easily build a right-angle attachment for the back end to remove the "slant back" of it so that you could use the full length of the bed for a rack, for work purposes.

I think you need more slant in the back...

Something like this:
hmmmmmmm

i like. thx boyd.

forrest i'm thinking of a nut welded into the inside of the cross bar. i'll send the bolt through the side bar orrrrrrrrr i use a pin style and use a codder pin to keep it in place

during the layout i thought about how i was going to make the upper rack and slant transition. i kinda dont want to bend it but at the same time that would be the strongest. conversely making the upper rack and kicking off that would lend itself better, sharper lines and a cleaner look. whereas if i were to bend it i would have to get the bend perfect. with just building the upper then the kickers i can play with the angles a little more and get it perfect.
