Long story short i had to replace a blower motor resistor and connector on a 06 toyota tacoma today.I couldnt get the connector from toyota they said the whole body harness had to be replaced.I found that a colorado connector was the same part.I also noticed the resistor pack was almost identical. However the replacement Resistor pack from toyota had been completly redesigned. The monting points are the same, both use the same connect and both have 4 speed's.I think we may be able to use toyota's new design to possibley eliminate future blower motor resistor problems. What do you guys think?

Definitely Interesting. I think I will let someone more knowledgeable about the electrics and blower motors speak up, but if this true and it will work then it might be one of those upgrades I will look into that will be a more stout part.

Ok was busy this morning and the first thing i had to get out was the tacoma. So i didnt get to test my theory, however i have the tacoma's old resistor. The old one is burnt but still worked i should be able to use it for a temp test.If the old one will work in our trucks then the new design will also work.Ive still gotta double check the wiring but if its pinned the same ill try it tonight.

I brought the old burnt tacoma resistor home and it worked perfectly.Which means the new design(toyota part number 87138-04052) will defently work.I only ran it for a few minutes but if someone wants to guinea pig out a long term test i say go for it.I made a video im uploading it to photobucket ill post it in a bit.

I found the new Tacoma design for the price that the Colorado used to sell for. Not sure what shipping will be since I'm on my phone

Just installed a new Stock GMC Canyon Resistor into original Harness today. Already doesn't work. It only took an hour to fail. Guess I'll be trying the Tacoma one next with a new Harness I suppose.
Anyone replacing the resistor, be sure and clean up the ground pack out under the hood too. The one by the airbox. Scuff the tab and the body and tighten it up good. If the ground is bad it will eat new parts.

Ok so I couldnt find my Fluke anywhere so I couldnt ohm it but I figured what the hell Id go ahead and try it and.... It works!!! :th_woot: No fire yet either so thats a plus. My old connector was burnt as was the resistor. I'll post up some pics.

Fan seems to blow a lil harder now on wide open it feels like. Im definetly enjoying having setting two and three back. Guess Im the first one with the new Tacoma resistor mod now?!? :salute:

Nice man make sure to plug the blue cpa in.I take it everything is working good?
Yea everything seems to be working good. I just took it out for a drive to run it wide open for a lil bit and see what it would do and it never missed a beat but like rshadd said time is what will prove if it works or not. Good find tho!!
