Engine does, get a used one to replace it. Fairly simple if you're staying with the same engine.

 

^ya, my original plan was to wait and pay the truck off then go crazy high with it when i had a second vehicle, as little as i drive it im already working on doing it

prolly a while if you don't dog it and change the oil regularly. most newer gas engines can last 200k+ if well kept

 

When in doubt, always lift!! And if your engine would happen to fail, just save your stock parts after the lift and take the lift off and sell it on here

 

Very good point. The parts for these trucks retain value better than the trucks do.

i LOVE lifted trucks. i lifted mine...but now im going to lower it :lol: it was fun but it all depends on the pros and cons for your driving habits/desired look of the car. If you like the look and go wheeling a lot go for it, if you enjoy whippin around and taking corners, prob not a great idea. you really need to weigh all the factors.

i lifted with the intention of offroading a lot and the simple fact that i think it looks dead sexy lifted. then realized its still a nice truck and i dont want to beat the hell out of it. after being lifted for a couple years i'm just tired of the lack of driveability with it on the roads. i do streets/highway 95% of the time. like everyone here i cant have a stock ride, thats just way too boring imo.
so yeah stock suspension, lifted, now planning on dropping it and upping the suspension a little. the 4wd is only needed in snow anyways :shrug: might as well enjoy driving the car the majority of the time not just when i get to play. although...play time is SO MUCH FUN. but i think not feeling like a sailboat on the highway will be a whole new experience.

i am probally going to lift it then. SM keys, Sm Shackles, still dont know what BL i want SM vs. PA. and then i was thinking of moto metal 951 in black but i havent seen to many pics of them on a red truck and the ones i have seen i dont know if I really like the look.

 

don't get moto 951s, everyone has them. you should get some pro comp- metal mulisha's,,,, or some ballistic jesters haha i have been trying to talk everyone into one of those and no luck yet, they are f'in sweet though

 

I just lifted mine after 120,000 miles of being lowered. I thought about the mileage also but figured what the hell if it breaks I'll fix it

 

how low were you and what changed your mind?

 

I've had my share of lowered vehicles. A lifted truck is so much more comfortable as far as I'm concerned as long as you get the right spring rates and shocks.

what exactly is the AAL vs. Shackles deal? do they do the same thing? can you do both for more lift? im not real sure on AAL i understand shackles (simple enough)

 

on aal's you add a thick leaf to the leaf spring pack, causing it to be more curved and support more weight, and lift. shackles are keeping your soft bouncy springs and dropping them lower. i have a 2" aal and 2" shackles on mine

 

so your actually getting 4" lift in back?

 

i can see the jesters more so then i see the mulisha's. the truck is red so the red ring would go well i think.
