So last week I let my co-worker take my battery to start his truck, so he took it out and put it back in but not very well. One of the battery cables was loose so I had to mess with it a little, while I was doing that the driver side speaker was making a weird sound didnt think much of it. Got home and my radio wont turn off even after I take out the key and open the door, I can even come back hours later and put the face back in and it plays... whats the deal? I could pop out r=the faceplate to the radio every time i park but that would suck.

Cuz is correct. Let the BCM reset by doing what he said, OR let her reset herself in time. Your choice.

BTW, blown fuse would never let continual power be applied. Hence why they are fuse's.

If he had a wire ran to the fuse box for the rap mod it is possible that his friend accidentally pulled it out when putting the battery back it. That would cause this

The BCM is confused. This happens when you connect the battery. Up on reconnecting the the BCM starts initializing and the power goes away again.

Disconnect the battery cable for a hour (or more). When you reconnect it install it and immediately tighten it without moving it around. You are trying not to bounce the power off and on during reconnection. Moving it around will bounce the power off and on a few times and confuse the BCM.

There a a process called RAP or Retained Accessory Power. It you have an OEM radio the BCM sends out a power off command on the data bus. The radio receives the command, interprets it, and turns off (or on). The also is a RAP relay that controls some other non-intelligent things. If you have an aftermarket radio one would hope that manufacturer also allowed it to interpret the data bus rather than using the RAP relay.

The data bus normally goes through the radio and on to other things that share that bus.

I still think the BCM is confused. Reset it by disconnecting the battery for an hour or more.

Thanks guys but the first thing I did wa take the battery out over night and the problem is still here. I did not run any kind of line to the fuse box when I put in my head unit so that wouldn't be it. Thanks for all the help!

I completely MISSED the ball on this one. Sorry...

Now, you said in the very first post you can take the faceplate off to kill the raido. Well, that means you have a aftermarket unit. In which case You MUST have had to find a alternate remote turn on wire. THAT one could be shorting to your 12v constant source wire. Could be just a weird timing issue..who know's. IF you did not run that wire from the fuse box then see where you did run it from like a traction control button, and see if that stays on all the time. IF it does, then see IF that circuit is under the BCM's control. It likely is.. In which case the BCM is VERY finicky. You could do the "reset" a dozen times and still not get her done right. You MAY have to actually unplug the bcm itself. otherwise time should take care of it.

Prob bcm. Had this prob couple weeks ago at my meet. Putting in a system, took radio out to hook up rcas, and radio stopped for a sec. Went to go eat with battery unplugged came back hooked up battery, and it was fine....

But I would check all fuses, under fuse box, back of radio, check connections, ground wire, power wire, anything that can b unplugged

Oh, and if the switched circuit you pulled the remote from is NOT controlled by the BCM, then it HAS a short for sure since it did not stay on before all this happend. Check any and all wiring you may have going in and around the battery itself. Somewhere there is a short.

IF you can not find what is controlled by the same circuit, but everything BESIDE"S the radio cuts off, then simply rewire the remote to another circuit that does in fact lose power when the key is turned off. Thereby killing the raido like it should.

You have a aftermarket deck, and most likely a chime module (aftermarket) I bet it is a scoshe.. I get tired of typing this!!

Get rid of that module it will kill your BCM, and gauges, it sits behind the battery and it gives switched power to the radio, and makes key in ignition, low fuel, and headlight on chimes.

You can get rid of it and get a metri GMRC-01 or just do the R.A.P and wire it directly and do away wit the chimes.

So it won't turn off even when you press the power button or it won't turn of with the ignition switch? If it won't turn off with the ignition switch I almost grantee that the chime module has gone bad. They are such a POS!
