Zeke was wanting to install three 10" subs in his truck, but wanted to hit some lower bass notes than you could normaly get with a sealed enclosure behind the seat. We decided to do a blow through, but not one of those 4' long jobs. no need to show off the speakers, he just wanted Bass, so i designed a box and tuned it.

The speakers only need .65 cu.ft of air space each, so i made three sealed chambers firing into one large ported chamber. we didnt want to build a HUGE box and have to tune more than one port.

before i get flamed by the stereo gods here, yes i know we didnt use MDF..yes, i know the port is smaller than what would normaly be required for a 2.8 cu.ft. enclosure. yes, that is a whole shit load of screws (no compressor or staple gun)..i am old school :D

The port is long enough to go throught bed/cab and just barely come through the back wall plastic when its cut out. The speakers are DVC 4ohm and are wired to 2.7ohm. memphis 1000watt amp wired at 2 ohms is putting out 580 watts...enjoy

zeke is picking up some trim to go over the lip on the plastic to clean the back wall up..should look pretty clean when done..

you will have to excuse the sound quality of this video..still figuring out the settings on the new cam

only problem i see with the box man and im not trying to hate. but that would actually be considered a fourth order band pass box. and for a fourth order the front side(side with port and subs firing into it.) needs to be much larger. im not sure on exact numbers right now and i dont have time to look it up before work but if the rear of the enclosure is 2.8 cubes then the front would need to be atleast 6 cubes and that is after you remove displacement of ports and everything.

goto any topper store they got it by the yard.its primarily used when you remove the back glass so you can pass through between topper and truck. old school thing when snug tops were king and slammed trucks lol.

As far as using 3/4 particle board for an enclosure it gives a very good tone. MDF is actually my second choice. When going sealed theres just something about particle board even MDF cant reproduce. Now if that was plywood(shudder) the sound is somewhat horrid lol.
