What 5.3L specific parts/mods/upgrades are there? i didnt see any posts that where stock 5.3 specific so i figured it would be good to have one. :salute:

if you have a 5.3, let us know what youve done!

i havent driven the truck much yet but it feels like it has alot of potential. i am surprised that no one has started a thread like this yet.

because technically its the same 5.3L thats in the NNBS 07+ silverados. so with an LS1 water pump and few other lil goodies you can run a LS2 intake manifold with the rails and injectors. or go the Vic JR route. cam port and polish the heads, good god thats JUST the beginning :naughty:

No need to go that route anymore Jose!

FAST now makes a truck intake, that bolts right in place of the factory one! It also allows you to run a their 102mm TB. But I don't think Tom is looking for those type of mods!

SLP makes a cat back exhuast, but I think MBRP is getting ready to release theirs too!

Doug Thorley is about to release they long tube headers.

Tom, for theses trucks, full exhuast, intake, and tune will get you going for sure! If and when your ready for the real power a nice lumpy cam will get you going!

my tune will be coming from AVT! he did my last and it was great. would get one from nowhere else.

the other forum mentioned has some good info. There is currently one one intake available for these trucks - AirDoc, but Volant is supposedly working on one that replaces the stock airbox and intake. I personally had a custom catback installed but as said above, there are some pre-made available. If you want to go with a handheld programmer, the Superchips Cortex 2950 works and a tech at Edge Products said the CT and CTS programmers will work. I hope this helps.

i am seriously considering going with a set of QTP electronic cutouts and mounting them before the second cats and just mounting turn down/outs to that. the only thing that concerns me is how badly it will screw up the engine without the stock backpressure from the second cats and the rest of the exhaust system. for those of you that know me you know how i love a loud exhaust but i also want to keep this truck driveable for long trips to meets and whatnot so thats why i figured electronic cutouts. best of both worlds. what do you think?

thanks! the warranty makes this one the one to get. think it will harm the engine though?

I doubt it'll hurt the engine... You'll lose low end touque big time and passing NJ inspection might be a challenge. Personally, I'd spend the money on a custom dual exhaust first. If go with 3" pipes, you get a nice deep rumble at idle and it'll bark when you get it on it. I love my Borlas, but they're probally not loud enough for you. You should come down to the Dover meet.

then maybee the no cats cats are a good solution. our trucks have 2.5" or 3" pipes out of the first/second cats? and there are no sensors behind the second cats so the truck would never know right? i am so up in the air about exhaust ( the reason i went mufflerless for 3 years on the last truck) i like super loud but i hate drone on long drives.

i had justin at BlackBear tune mine

clear imagine automotive makes long tube 4-1 headers and long tube tri-y headers for our trucks.

gears is a huge boost. swap those 3.42's for a set of 4.10's and you'll be amazed.

magnason has a s/c kit out for our trucks as well.

dont forget an electric fan. i know when my fan kicks on it kills the power so i will be doin an electric fan too.

skunk2 makes a ported tb that makes for a good mod.

and as mentioned above volant is makin a cold air intake for our trucks, its just not availible yet. a tune does wonders for these trucks as well.

mods are slowly but surely comin around for the 5.3 rado and canyon. they have lots of potential.

dont forget to check out v8chevycolorado.com thats where most of us with factory v8's are and do our talkin.
