ive never honestly been intrigued enough to see what the oil pressure looks like on these engines.

does the scan gauge or ultra gauge plot oil pressure? i know there is a sending unit for it but im not sure if that is just like a hobbs switch or not.

any way...any body know? idle and at wot

thanks

Yup, the oil pressure sensor in the 4 and 5 cylinder trucks is just for the indicator light. To get a PSI reading, you will have to install a true pressure sending unit and a dedicated oil psi gauge.

Mine runs at about 14-18 psi at idle and around 35-45 psi at 2000 rpm.

At idle in a warm engine that is normal from what I have seen in all of my past vehicles. I have seen it as high as 100 psi in my WS6 T/A when the engine was cold. It may have something to do with the low weight of the oil being it's 5/30

The only time I see the pressure that high at idle is at initial cold-start in the morning or after a few hours of the engine sitting. Once the engine warms-up, the oil lowers it's viscosity and the pressure drops accordingly. All of my work trucks displayed the same behavior and they all ran to 200k+ miles without any lubricating issues. Same with my 355 which is now at 174k miles

Here's mine after a 40 mile drive this morning.

Now, it is cool and rainy this morning. I too run 5-30 Mobil 1 and it was changed 3 weeks and 3000 miles ago. If it was too low, the PCM/BCM would tell me lol
