i would cut out the bottoms and glass then bondo i think it would be a bit easier that way

I know nothing about fiber glassing but it seems to me like option 2 would take a lot of material and time (a lot of cureing time or lots of layers). So I think either option 1 or 3 is the way to go.

with the first option you could actually get better support cause you can go beyong the hole on the sides and then fill some on the front then bondo i think it would actually have less chances of cracking also

Number 2 seems like the most solid plan...less likely to crack down the road. :shrug:

I'd go with 2 also. A bit more work, but i think it'd give better results and last longer.

Agreed use the matting. I have fixed a lot of plastic snowmobile hoods this way. Make sure if you can leave lots of small drills holes to allow the resin and cloth to have some "bite".

well I'm going with #2

I cut up the matting and drilled the holes in 1 cap to do a test one. Well I guess I cut way too much and mixied up too much resin. So rather than waste it, I filled 3. Pissed at myself cause I only cut the holes in one of them, but the resin would have hardened by the time I got more holes drilled.

I'll let it cure for a few days, then I have a shitload of sanding to do, YEAH :mad2: I hate sanding .

well i knew we threw around option 1 at MESM but looks like option 2 is the way to go. cant wait to see the end result of this!

Fiberglass is always the best way to go seeing as it is much more resilient to water and less likely to crack out as compare to bondo.

I hate sanding :hulk: but i'm getting there

well looks like the small "grip" holes are very necessary :lol:
these little fuckers popped right out of the two I didn't drill

sanded down, first layer of Bondo

got two in primer, just to help see where I need more work

and got the last one drilled and filled tonight

Very ingenious. Most won't even notice the difference. I love subtle custom mods like this.

I know it's not that bad, it just makes a hell of a mess. If I had a garage to work in or something that would be a different story, but I'm in the living room of my apartment.

oh yeah, by no means finished, still got more smoothing. just ran out of primer, so i had to use paint to see the imperfections.

You can see your work around the bowtie. Are these going on winter wheels?
