The guys son and daughter go to the school I work at, both are great kids.
Their dad just picked up this car, I will see if I can get over there to check it out after the holidays.
Here is what they had in the local press:
Barricade on display in Manassas, VA
Jim Ortte is the proud new owner of the famous police car that appeared in the 2007 blockbuster movie “Transformers.” Ortte bought the car in auction and would not disclose the price, however, today he and his son showed off the car in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Liberia Avenue in Manassas, VA.
The police car, known as ‘Barricade’ in the film, is a specially customized 2005 Ford Saleen Mustang. Ortte explained that he has owned 16 different Mustangs and is a real car lover. Barricade has a V-8 engine, a 2007 S281 experimental body, has camera mounts on the sides above the wheels as well as under the hood, and a specially installed police equipment package. It also has the ability to do stunts, such as lock the front wheels to do a complete spin.
Ortte has big plans for ‘Barricade.’ He plans to show it off at different car shows, and other special events, such as fundraisers to help raise money for children with cancer.
“Transformers 3” was filmed in Washington D.C. and is scheduled for release in June 2011. Both Ortte and his son are looking forward to seeing the second sequel to the original film.

I don't think he plans to drive it other than to charity events and most likely the local parades. They are real nice people, the dad is the deputy states attorney or something like that.
This was one of the three they used in the movie. It was the main camera car, not used in stunts. I know his son probably slept in it the first night.
I will see him next week at school and get the details about it.

Not a problem at all really. As long as he does not try to impersonate a cop, like by trying to pull someone over....he is NOT breaking the law.

Now, odd's are cops will hound him...lol. BUT they will lose when they go to trial if it gets to that. The law clearly states that a individual MUSt be attempting to make it be known he is a cop. Or could be a cop. Driving a cop car is perfectly legal. Hell, here you have state emplyee's that drive older cop cars back and forth to work everyday. NOW, again...thats here in NC. May not be the same in your state...

the previous owner brought that to my towns local carshow one week. it goes on every weekend thru the summer every sunday. but that car was sooooo sweet! and its legal for show on the police things, hes got a big SALEEN sign that goes over the POLICE on the doors and little black signs that cover up the other stuff when hes drivin. as far as the sirens you can have em as long as people dont think your a cop, ie dont have them on.

Really cool Ray; especially with the plans he has for it!

He is very big in the cancer charities around here and will be using this to draw more attention to the various charities he supports.
He is a great guy, and is a state magistrate or assistant states attorney (something along that line anyway) and I would guess he knows all of the local/state cops. I'm sure they would give him a full escort anywhere he wanted to go to avoid any issues.
