Haven't been on in awhile, new job keeps me busy with six 11 hour days a week. Came on to a little problem, I knew there was only one place to turn to, so see what you guys think.

Just broke 116,000 miles, and for the most part, the truck runs great. Couple hundred miles back, started hearing this knocking sound coming from the front end. Its not rhythmic at all, so I knew it wasn't internal. Started looking at everything and it looks like the water pump (pully) is loose and getting ready to fall off? does this happen?

You cant hear the knocking, just wanted you guys to see the pump and tell me Im dumb and all I need is blinker fluid.

BTW, leave the belt ON there...turn the fan nut towards the passenger side of the truck. Then take off those bolts...AFTER you get those loose then take off the belt. the belt will help keep everything from spinning on you. then the bolts under that bell will be a 10mm and once thats done you will just need a paper gasket, or some sealant. Its easy to do..some of them are a bit of a pain to knock loose. but once you get the bolts out a good thump on the shaft will get her loose for ya. Easy job to do...

Well, I posted this up before, going to work, pulled into the parking lot and it died. If only I'd done something sooner. Boss drove me to the 24 hour VatoZone after work to pick up a new one. Great advice banditz, helped out alot. Thanks nation, helped out alot.

BTW, Scangauge II is awesome! Picked it up last weekend, its a great toy if ya have some spare change.

I replied in the Cappy Section!

Its an ideal time to do the serp. belt, tensioner and clutch on the fan while you have everything apart. I know it might not be needed now..........but what a kick in the dick when one of those shits the bed a month later and you have to take it all apart again.

I know this is an old post but I am having an issue with me water pump coming loose, the fan clutch and pulley stay tight but the water pump it's self keeps coming loose. the first time was right after I bought it, the top to bolts were only finger tight. Replaced gasket and rtv'd and put blue Loctite on the threads (water pump was replaced 30,000 miles before I bought it from family). Now it is doing the same but all the bolts were loose, had to tear it apart in the parking lot at work to tighten it up to get it home.
