I took this out when putting in my cai and I can't really seem to get it back in like it was before. Is it needed? The drivers side does not have one. Is it to shield lights from heat ? Did a sesrch for foam insert and did not see much. Thanks for replies ! Truck is 2012 5.3 if that matters.

I have seen it on mine but not sure what it's for maybe to keep exess water away from the air box :shrug:

Theres also a big thing of foam just above the skidplate, and i think i saw it on the drivers side headlight. My guess is its for wind noise?

I ditched it with my Volant install. With a roof rack & 78" load bars, I don't think I would notice that wind noise (if that was the fix...).
