I felt it was necessary to compile a list of the TOP 10 performance mods. Ranging from free, to cheap, and the invaluable. I have included links to the applicable How-To threads and discussions on these topics. Feel free to correct me or add your input to this thread and i will add it to the OP.Literally speaking the entire contents of this thread will total approx $400. I would posit that if one were to complete these mods below the expected gains could concieveably net an additional 20+ hp and at the very least 2 mpg. I cannot guarantee this but it is concievable to net that and more.

I don’t feel either of these are entirely accurate. All of these parts can be found at your local Home Depot, Lowes, or most hardware stores for under $30. My .02 is to purchase a 3 in sched 40 3in PVC sweep for the electrical section. Approx $15. Head on over to the plumbing section and purchase a 3in “NO-HUB” rubber coupler. Approx $5. Please note the I4 models may require an additional elbow as the TB sits farther back in the engine bay. Also the I4 TB is smaller and will not accommodate a 3 in tube, You will have to source a boot to fit this. Additionally all motors will need a ½ in fip threaded fitting with a ½ in barbed end. Unless you are doing the crank case breather mod found below. Also read my comments below that. 2004-2006 models will require a ¼ in FIP to 3/16 barbed fitting for the PCV valve. Newer years do not have this. For both the crankcase breather and the PCV fittings you will need hoses to match.

If youre tired of cleaning your throttlebody every time you do your oil look no further. If you don’t want to read the whole "crankcase breather" thread I don’t blame you (pg 13 has a quick parts list). I will highlight briefly our findings. Some trucks experienced issues with certain routes of the hoses. I find that by simply installing a filter in line, one on the intake side and one on the exhaust side you should be able to alleviate all CEL and oil light issues. Several members elected to use a catch-can style set-up later in the thread and those are working great. I would recommend this route over the filters simply due to the simplicity and ease of use. Cost is about the same as the two filters and necessary fittings

Most types of iridium plugs will work great but Denso’s have been considered one of the best plugs to use.

Any muffler shop will sell you a cat back system for several hundred dollars, but i'm here to tell you its really not all that much more gains (if any) than an off the shelf muffler welded in place for $30 plus the mufflers price. There are far too many mufflers out there, and exponentially more trucks with different setups causeing the same muffler to sound marginally different. Go to youtube and search "chevy colorado exhaust" filter by brand or by motor. if you find one you like message that person and see what they have done to the truck and what muffler they have. Most weld in mufflers found at any auto parts stores including those online can be had for well under $100. Find a buddy that can weld it in there and save the $30.

Supermodulation has truly outdone himself with the advent of the ported throttle-body. Some have tried to replicate these and failed miserably. Spend the money and have it done right.
