About 3 foot of air and leaf springs puts way tomuch stress on the front of the frame!!! And racer if u r not careful u to may damage your frame One heavy hit on a hidden under the mud ledge will hurt!!!!

Re: The Sfa_Colorado Overhaul!!!!!!

I bet that frame cost a pretty penny...

Just an opinion, but since you have no need for any of the stock mounting locations for IFS or leaves, it would have been easier to just build a complete frame from 2x4 to suit your needs, and you wouldn't have to worry about the strength concerns with the stocker. I just don't understand why you'd start with a stock frame when almost every aspect of it will have to be changed. Again, just my opinion... I'm sure you have your reasons.

Definitely following this build, going to be sick!

Re: The Sfa_Colorado Overhaul!!!!!!

I am building my own I need a frame that isn't already hacked to get my measurements then I am going to sell the frame once the 2x4 frame is done hence new frame lol I just need good measurements and the frame was 900 bucks not to bad it's only a weeks pay check lol

Re: The Sfa_Colorado Overhaul!!!!!!

ok i was hopping you went with a cutom made frame. ive heard these stock frames get weaker once welded on... not if thats true or not im not sure.

with the 60/70 combo are you going to keep the stock width or go with a custom width-- cut down--? i would personally say keep it at the stock width of the axle if becasue when you break and axle shaft you can just go to a junk yard and pull one out of a stock axle and get back to wheelin. have you thought about a rear disc upgrade for the rear axle?

also what gears are you planning on running in them axles? 5.88s i believe is the lowest you can go in a 60 front with 70 rear. also i wouldnt spend your money on lockers. just take a weld rod and weld the holes in the carrier together to create a full time locker. most lockers will lock under 5LBS of pressure anyways which is the touch of the skinny petal... but thats just my perosnal prefferences.

also what motor are you swaping in? i would look for a 5.3 out of a silverado. i think that will be the easiest swap and cheapest. no need for a LS motor in a wheeler. a 5.3 with some performance mods will give you enough power to spin 40's thru the mud and travel down the highway if so desired. and you will have more then enough torque from the motor, gears, trans and tcase to crawl up most inclines and rocks you will come across.

as you seen with my S10, i would go with boggers in a 39.5x18x16.5. im not a fan of IROKS. you will have more then enough traction on the rocks and hill climbs and then can go play in the mud with no problems. but DONT run them on the road for very long-- talking less then a mile at a time, you will wear through them way to quick. and i would cut your fenders as much as possible to keep a low center of gravity while still being able to run a large tire. since its a wheeler it doesnt really matter about the looks as you have shown with your jeep.
