Pull the bulb out of the dash for ABS

 

Too bad the abs fault message will still pop up lol

Unfortunately no I don't

 

This sounds very likely to be damage somehow in the ABS sensor wiring or a connector.

It sounds probable that the original sensor may not have been bad, but the signal from the signal from the sensor does not get where it needs to go, which is to the anti-lock brake control module.

Or, the original sensor was bad, but when you installed the new sensor the wiring from the sensor to the ABS module was damaged. Have you inspected the sensor connector at the hub?

 

All the wiring looked fine and I made sure to be as careful as possible during install. At O'Reilly the scanner also said "loss of communication to the bcm" how can I check the abs sensor that you plug the speed sensor into?

 

Maybe it's a defective ABS control module or the fault needs to be reset?

 

I would hope it's not defective since I bought the whole hub assembly brand new. I disconnected the battery already and no luck. That's the only way I know how to reset it without getting the code coated and seeing if it pops up again

 

Tap the sensor closer to the hub. Sometimes they don't put them on far enough, it needs to be pretty close but make sure you don't make it rub.

 

I saw that on the abs diagnosis thread but didn't think it would need they since it was pre installed but I'll give it a try

 

Well my buddy scanned the abs codes and I need to replace the passenger side hub assembly as well. It also came up with "loss communication to the bcm" :shootme: now I'm trying to straighten out this dam P0171 code AGAIN

 

It may be so, but I would NOT buy new hubs as yet.
You need to verify it isn't in reality a cable problem or the ABS module itself.

That "loss of communication to the BCM" fault is possibly a clue to the problem..
The probability is that the two faults are related.
Download the schematic if you haven't yet done so.

Also find the cable diagram, maybe in the exploded-parts views at Nalley some other parts vendor. Use that to map out a close inspection of all the connectors and cables.
Look for damage, etc.
