I seem to recall that one or two members are running a carbon-fiber hood..

VIS hoods?

Others?

I had never before seen this newer style hood latch..
Aero Catch hood pins

I wasn't too interested in C-F hoods if it meant using the old traditional hood-pins, but these give me wood..

Question:
Would you consider a carbon-fiber hood in the natural C-F finish on a white truck?

I won't be able to do it any time soon (already spending in the stratosphere for my "new" toy build) but as I'm going for a white with black trim 'sport' look, this is beginning to appeal to me.

I say....go for it. What can go wrong? If you dont like it, put your stock hood back on. Might be in a little money, but I'm sure someone would buy it if you didn't like it...hint hint I would.

Not sure I do want one....
I'm just in that build-project mania state at the moment.

I was working late when I posted this last night and just became curious if I remembered correctly thinking that at least one or two members here were running a C-F hood.

Also I was wondering if anyone knew any vendors other than VIS.

Really it amazes me anyone would go to the effort and expense of designing and fabricating a C-F for a 355..
Can't imagine VIS has sold so awfully many of them. I'd guess they can probably count the total number of sales on their fingers.

I thought those hood-latches are pretty slick though.

For my old '05 crew/d-d I would not have given a glance to a C-F hood.

For my new std-cab project though, being intended as mostly a toy, C-F has that 'sport' allure.. And I keep imagining how the unpainted C-F would look against the white truck..

Won't get me laid I know, but still..

At the price it's very doubtful I ever would, but I am in that "new toy" mode.

... It's more of that "If I had a lot of money to blow" type of thing though.
uh, yeah..
Lot of folks here burn cash on their truck for things that do not excite me, but then that's what it's all about, right?

If for looks go for it

If for weight don't waste your time, our hoods aren't heavy.

Aero catches are very nice, you have to cut a pretty big whole tho. They look soooo much better than regular hood pins

Page 8 on my build thread, post #159. I believe i had the hood and aero latch since early 2008 before i knew of 355 nation. Kevin was posting pics for me back then. Its a lightened cf hood with the aero hardware. You can use the latches for other parts of the car as well. I was taking my daughter to school and we were running late, jumped in and headed out. Got up to 45 mph before the turns in the road and the hood opened up and bam the hood hit the top of my cab. It didnt shatter my windshield, the cf hood conformed around it and made a good dent where the aero latch broke. When the aero latch is open it looks like a little black flag. i was in a hurry, didnt see it. The cf hood did its job in my book worth the $400- 500 i paid for it. Look at rshadds (so you wanna hood thread) also. Carbon fiber cant sit for long periods of time in the sun. They have sealants you can apply to the cf to make it last. Had mine painted. The weight is about 8-9 lbs with the aero hardware and aluminum custom hood latch.

Ive had a carbon fiber hood on every vehicle except my truck ( plan to go steal cowl just because I like the look )

aside from cosmetics you will be more than fine with the hood latch given on a hood you buy. My last car the speedo was buried at 160mph and still pulling ( this was on a closed road in mexico ) and the hood was fine. It saw north of 140 mph regularly a few times a month with no issues over the course of almost 7 years.
